it's earth wind & fire + a very young dianne reeves + eddie del barrio arrangements. was marketed as jazz cross over on release. lots of airplay on R & B stations, and even (gasp) rock stations

2006-05-05 12511, 2006

I think I'm living on just a bad preconcieved opinion about EWF - like, the one I got when I was a kid: "It's old pop stuff, it sucks" - I'll come to it :p

EWF started as a jazz band, a very good one. get the releases from the late '60s early seventies ... nothing after '78
2006-05-05 12559, 2006

heyhey, late 70's are... full of surprises! Oh! Surely you known the (in)famous Pointer Sisters?
2006-05-05 12558, 2006

yep, me too. gotta appreciate a band that takes time to answer the questions of a couple of nitpickers
2006-05-05 12535, 2006
yllona
i think most of mine were "members of" or "performed as guest"
2006-05-05 12520, 2006

Yep, and so quickly. That's I think what impressed me the most. :)
2006-05-05 12541, 2006

I gave them a link to see their band page. Who knows if they'll look, but.. it could be fun if they do. :D
2006-05-05 12514, 2006

yeah :)
2006-05-05 12526, 2006
yllona
many, many artists are responsive if you ask an intelligent question, and are polite
2006-05-05 12500, 2006
Nyght
So far I agree yllona, but as myspace has gotten bigger, some of those artists aren't as quick to respond, if ever.
2006-05-05 12530, 2006
Nyght
unless there's something to click your "name/face" in with them, then it's a bit different
2006-05-05 12552, 2006
yllona
many of the the "artists" don't create / operate the myspace band pages, it's filtered by the artist management company / record label. and the artists tehmselves might be on the road / touring
2006-05-05 12550, 2006
yllona
sony has been experimenting with myspace for acouple of years now... so had BMG
2006-05-05 12558, 2006
yllona
*has BMG
2006-05-05 12548, 2006
yllona
even the more succesful "indie" artists have handlers.
2006-05-05 12545, 2006
yllona
seriously though, the disintermediation is necesssary on myspace as the security model is very poor.
2006-05-05 12525, 2006
yllona
* security / privacy / age authentication
2006-05-05 12518, 2006
Nyght
yllona: I'm dealing with slightly "smaller" bands than most people.. but, yes, some of them have started to be monitored by management. :( (Still liked when Klayton did his own page)
2006-05-05 12548, 2006
Nyght
I agree yllona, very much so on their lack of "secure" aspects.
2006-05-05 12506, 2006
yllona
nyght: it had to be. myspace screwed the pooch on security
2006-05-05 12524, 2006
Nyght
yep
2006-05-05 12541, 2006
