Just figuring it all out. ;) so, you think it should be going to specific entries that need the most votes.. like. particular advance searches? I'm not positive how to do that.
2006-05-13 13342, 2006
Nyght
LOL Ah, that's sweet Martin!

Hmm, on which part?
2006-05-13 13322, 2006
Nyght
there was a handful there. ;)
2006-05-13 13359, 2006
Nyght
the biggest, how do you propose I do the search for advance votes
2006-05-13 13342, 2006
MartinRudat
puid entry... though my thoughts on cleaning involve turps, and (if the surface will survive it) a wire-brush... =)
2006-05-13 13358, 2006
MartinRudat
the search for advanced votes?
2006-05-13 13337, 2006
MartinRudat blinks and re-reads, I missed some bits, it seems...
2006-05-13 13342, 2006
Nyght
ah, just starting on the a's in my collection.. working down the alphebet, getting some things put into the db that weren't already there.. totally don't want to do the variant discs I still have to do from liners though
Schika: don't have flash here... would I be shocked if I did?
2006-05-13 13310, 2006
Nyght
You had said instead of the type of votes, it would potentially be better to do votes that needed to be voted on.. I agree, but have no clue how to do it.

Nyght: do you have the necessary info for the wikidocs stuff?
2006-05-13 13347, 2006
MartinRudat
Nyght: hmm... are you planning to add say... "HowToVoteOnAddReleaseEdits"?
2006-05-13 13335, 2006
Nyght
I'm not really sure. I had asked for Wolfie to look it over, and perhaps give me a sorta idea of if it was going in the general lines of "okay" but then he distracted me with soundtracks.. or, nechtro, distracted us.
2006-05-13 13339, 2006

common problem.
2006-05-13 13346, 2006

how can i help you?
2006-05-13 13334, 2006

Martin, I can't even say I know how to vote on add release edits. ;) Shall I say, my views are a bit.. skewed. ;)

Schika
MartinRudat, it's a game about abused cuddly toys and you are the doctor
2006-05-13 13328, 2006
Nyght
kesche, would you glance over it and see if you think it's more or less okay? Martin had suggested to doing a list of the most needed votes, and I like that idea, and was thinking of that anyways, but I don't know how to do the URL for the advance search to pick up the ...

MartinRudat
Schika: ah. that's neat. I should really get mol working so I can use flash...
2006-05-13 13301, 2006

specifics. Like, if I was going to take them to the AddRelease votes.. how would I do it?
2006-05-13 13323, 2006
keschte
i don't know if we have to create a heap of new content...
as far as the porting is concerned, i'd use wiki subpages like /Development/Subversion and /Development/SubversionModules etc, and basically paste the content from these pages: http://bugs.musicbrainz.org/browser/mb_server/tru… into the wiki. then we can start intertwingling the content.
2006-05-13 13317, 2006
keschte
i feel these pages need not be integrated into the other wiki too much, the purpose of wikidocs is to have the pages in an editable place, such that no html coding is required to make changes.... not necessarily wiki pages like others.
2006-05-13 13359, 2006
Nyght
okay, that was sort of what I had gotten from Don, or Ruaoc, that we were trying to go that direction.
2006-05-13 13320, 2006
keschte
hmm... i've heard other opinions before. they'd like to start from the leaves and work towards the trunk of the wiki tree. but that is almost unmanageable and takes too much time.
2006-05-13 13301, 2006
MartinRudat chews on amazon... I don't think I would have added an ASIN for an album with a different tracklisting...
2006-05-13 13301, 2006
keschte
but since we discussed that, i've seen not much change (for a month, maybe).
2006-05-13 13350, 2006
keschte
oh, a quick remark: http://test.musicbrainz.org/doc/HowToVote <-- the mechanism of wiki docs does not display the title of the document. you have to manually add a title = Some Title = at the top of the document, else it looks rather weird :)
2006-05-13 13352, 2006
Nyght
Somethings can be so .. slow, and yeah, you can't go from the leaves to the trunk, you have to start from the trunk and go outward.
2006-05-13 13324, 2006
Nyght
So, move the How To Vote up, before the preface?
2006-05-13 13345, 2006
keschte
well, i think i'm going to have a stomach ulcer before this gets live ;)
2006-05-13 13349, 2006
keschte
yes.
2006-05-13 13316, 2006
keschte
ok, i'm done cunting today :|
2006-05-13 13340, 2006
Nyght
ah, well, if you can point me to the pages that need the shifts from moderate to edit, and that sort of thing I will gladly do them, I just started looking myself and most of the pages I tripped on didn't seem correct for that sort of thing.
2006-05-13 13308, 2006
Nyght
I can do this as I get more thoughts towards what to "do" with it. ;)
2006-05-13 13300, 2006
keschte
there's a search box on the top right.. i've used that, it works :)
2006-05-13 13313, 2006
keschte
you have to press search in page text tough, not the titles
2006-05-13 13319, 2006
keschte
though
2006-05-13 13326, 2006
Nyght
so basically every instance of the moderate switched to it's appropriate term?
2006-05-13 13330, 2006
Nyght
yeah
2006-05-13 13334, 2006
Nyght
I was told that. ;)
2006-05-13 13312, 2006
MartinRudat gumbles at amazon... they've stopped selling the version of Shirley Bassey's Singles Album I've got...
2006-05-13 13340, 2006
Nyght
you might check in the other amazons, though singles I think are the most difficult
2006-05-13 13337, 2006
MartinRudat
Nyght: it's an album collecting her singles... there's at least two versions, with two different sets of cover art... one amazon.com is still selling, and one they presumably had a few copies left over of, because it was on amazon.com last week...
2006-05-13 13344, 2006

MartinRudat hmms... did billboard keep seprate aussie charts in addition to uk charts?
2006-05-13 13341, 2006
Joan_W
I doubt it Martin
2006-05-13 13336, 2006
MartinRudat is trying to figure out why he's got a bunch of CDs 'Billboard Top Rock 'n' Roll Hits' ... and they're all slightly different from the ones in the DB... despite identical titles...
2006-05-13 13316, 2006
Joan_W
Because they re-cycle titles every couple of years
2006-05-13 13355, 2006
Joan_W
re-arrange the tracks, shove a couple of new ones in - and hey presto easy money
2006-05-13 13312, 2006
Joan_W
If they were honest the titles should read "Billboard Top Rock 'n' Roll Hits 1998" or whatever year they put it out in
2006-05-13 13353, 2006
Joan_W
I've got my cynical head on this morning
2006-05-13 13324, 2006
MartinRudat
supposedly they're all pulled from the top 100 charts for the year they're titled for... which was why I was wondering if there was more than one billboard chart...
2006-05-13 13353, 2006
MartinRudat prods his computer... it locked up for something on the order of 30 seconds while ejecting a CD... how lovely.
