the itunes plugin sends just the MBID to last.fm, which should mean much more accurate tack listing at last.fm

I do know someone is working on expanding the MBID submitting goodness though to Foobar, WinAmp and QCD
      • 2006-05-13 13319, 2006

      • MartinRudat should go check to see what the xmms or beep plugins do...

pjo2: musicbrainz gives every artist, album and track in its database an id, those are MBIDs. when you use musicbrainz's tagging programs (mb_tagger or picard), it writes those to the file too
      • 2006-05-13 13331, 2006

      • pjo2
so MBID and ID3 tag are different and separate ?
      • 2006-05-13 13336, 2006

      • nikki_
        no
      • 2006-05-13 13350, 2006

      • nikki_
well, MBIDs are stored in ID3 tags in mp3s

        i am confused

MBID are store in id3tags... just with names like "MUSICBRAINZ ALBUM ARTIST ID" instead of artist... and most players don't read those fields
      • 2006-05-13 13331, 2006

      • nikki_
ID3 tags are a way of storing data in mp3s, MBIDs are unique IDs musicbrainz uses. MBIDs can be stored in ID3 tags just like you can store artist, album, track number, and other info
      • 2006-05-13 13344, 2006

        not characters ?
