pjo2: musicbrainz gives every artist, album and track in its database an id, those are MBIDs. when you use musicbrainz's tagging programs (mb_tagger or picard), it writes those to the file too

pjo2
so MBID and ID3 tag are different and separate ?
2006-05-13 13336, 2006
nikki_
no
2006-05-13 13350, 2006
nikki_
well, MBIDs are stored in ID3 tags in mp3s
2006-05-13 13353, 2006
pjo2
i am confused
2006-05-13 13312, 2006
MartinRudat stops adding to the confusion, then...
2006-05-13 13318, 2006
pjo2
what are the difference of those ID3 tags and MBIDs ?

MBID are store in id3tags... just with names like "MUSICBRAINZ ALBUM ARTIST ID" instead of artist... and most players don't read those fields
2006-05-13 13331, 2006
nikki_
ID3 tags are a way of storing data in mp3s, MBIDs are unique IDs musicbrainz uses. MBIDs can be stored in ID3 tags just like you can store artist, album, track number, and other info

2006-05-13 13337, 2006
pjo2

2006-05-13 13300, 2006

pjo2
so i do not have to pay attention to MBID ?
2006-05-13 13337, 2006
Muz
They make no sense to people, but only machines with MBID reading capabilities
2006-05-13 13340, 2006
MartinRudat blinks... has there been something going around and deleting annotations?

Hmmm, sort of
2006-05-13 13322, 2006
MartinRudat added an annotation to http://musicbrainz.org/album/48fc1722-ad72-419a-8395-15bbea4aadbe.html just today, and there isn't one anymore...
pjo2: somewhere in the options there should be one which lets you log the chats
2006-05-13 13324, 2006
MartinRudat looks confused... I could have sworn that I've entered an annotation for every album I've added over the last few weeks...

he should never be voting no just because you didnt provide a link. he can ask for one by all means, but theres no need to vote no

check the file that mirc is saving to to see what you've saved? failing that, I could send you a copy of the appropriate portions of my logs if mirc isn't being helpful...
