ruaok: Did I ever actually explain what I meant with the multiple track analyze and Picard?
      • 2006-05-12 13201, 2006

      • ruaok
        dont think so.
      • 2006-05-12 13202, 2006

      • Nyght
ah, um, basically just being able to click on a cluster, and have it analyze all of the tracks instead of having to click each one and telling it to anazlyze.
      • 2006-05-12 13208, 2006

      • Nyght
        analyze too. ;)

      • ruaok
        something like this:
      • 2006-05-12 13236, 2006

      • ruaok
        0) user adds files
      • 2006-05-12 13243, 2006

        3) for each cluster, do an album lucene search, if found, match cluster to album, done.
      • 2006-05-12 13252, 2006

      • ruaok
        4. start randomly pweeding tracks from a cluster and look them up. If two or more tracks from one cluster match nicely to an album, download album, move things over.

got a question folks ... same as a couple of days ago, but I am having trouble. please see http://musicbrainz.org/showmod.html?modid=4772818 Does making each track of this a NAT make more sense?
      • 2006-05-12 13248, 2006

      • Nyght

        saxpoet: why NAT?
      • 2006-05-12 13244, 2006

      • Nyght
saxpoet: I've only had one instance of this, and it was Korn's version of the song attrib'd to Draiman.. I put it as a NAT... at the same time. I don't feel like I have a good enough grasp on NAT's to truly give much information or suggestions, and I wish I could.
      • 2006-05-12 13247, 2006

      • wolfsong13
        also I why bootleg?
      • 2006-05-12 13201, 2006

      • saxpoet
I can see no other reason why it is not good enough as is, but a voter does not like it as is ... just looking for ideas

boot because this is ripped from VHS, not a commercial release
      • 2006-05-12 13257, 2006

      • Nyght
well there's waiting the votes out and seeing if you get any yes. One no doesn't make a vote fail unless you don't get two yes votes...
      • 2006-05-12 13201, 2006

      • wolfsong13
is the VHS a commercial release?
      • 2006-05-12 13231, 2006

      • saxpoet
seems that this is an extension of the question about NATs ripped from TV, VH1 Award ceremonies and the like
      • 2006-05-12 13258, 2006

      • wolfsong13
no i would say that's a bit different
      • 2006-05-12 13211, 2006

      • saxpoet
yes, the VHS is commercial ... I entered amazon and IMDB links

      • 2006-05-12 13202, 2006

      • saxpoet
ok ... so a change to 'official' could apply ... but the real trouble is overcoming the objection of the NO voter

yes saxpoet, I'm trying to right now figure out something similar with a bunch of remix tracks.

saxpoet: I think part of getting things like that accepted is how large of a crowd knows about them, would utilize etc... and I'm not saying that's correct, I just think that's what says if they gain admission or not into the db
      • 2006-05-12 13249, 2006

      • Joan_W
unfortunately beth, that is also true of some of the less well known single artists and groups
      • 2006-05-12 13215, 2006

      • Nyght
The ten tracks all came from the mp3.com site.. the various others, were mainly from mp3.com, but from their remixers, or, from the message board. So, you're correct they were never on albums and I don't believe they will ever be on albums.

Klayton's talking about doing another remix contest, and those tracks perhaps going out on an album.. but, he's pretty done with Symbiont to my understanding.
      • 2006-05-12 13218, 2006

      • Nyght
Joan, yes, but the add artists are becoming more and more "auto accepted" because if they don't get populated they auto delete.

has there been talk of adding a "MusicSourceGuide" to accompany the Style and Editing Guides?
      • 2006-05-12 13208, 2006

      • Nyght
but, as far as releases, yes.. that can be difficult. Though I think if there's not freedb import there, sometimes that with a disc id can help a lot.
      • 2006-05-12 13203, 2006

      • saxpoet
ah, but there is a freedb import of this ... that is how I brought it in
      • 2006-05-12 13211, 2006

      • Nyght
Of course, those disc id's can be a pain in the arse too, because we're still pruning out home burnt discs.
      • 2006-05-12 13237, 2006

      • Nyght
Hmm... that might be part of the flack? I don't know honestly...

      • 2006-05-12 13216, 2006

I have got about 1,000 CD's here and I don't know how many have already been entered into the database. If they have, I don't know how many have disc ID's attached. To enter disc ID's, I would have to download Picard wouldn't I and I have tried to steer clear of it so far.
      • 2006-05-12 13239, 2006
