      • Schika
why does Japanese artist releases only use UPERCASE in the album/track titles?
      • teleGUISE
good question.. i wanna know too!
      • SenRepus
Schika japanese are weird and get special rules
      • _mo
because japaneesers are WEIRD peopel, live with it :)
      • SenRepus
because when the write it has nothing to do with grammer it has to do with making text look a certain way
      • they arent all written in only upper case
      • _mo
they don't have casp and othen think a G and a g are different letters
      • teleGUISE
so when they write lower case letters does it look different then upper case?
      • _mo
so they only goafterstylistics, meaning that its quite isnentional and its always consistnet
      • yes
      • damn this is horrible
      • I need to go to bed
      • bad spelling
      • SenRepus
the japanese language has no concept of capitalization, so it transfers into english letters i guess
      • Schika
hmmm ... well then I don't touch these releases anymore
      • _mo
        good!
      • teleGUISE thinks all irc clients should have a built in spell check for english anyways.. along with a slang checker ;)-
      • teleGUISE
as well as a American Enlgish to International English translation dictionary
      • SenRepus
        im the same Schika
      • Schika
        teleGUISE: + l33t 5p34k 3nc0d3 4nd d3c0d3 ch3ck3r :P
      • _mo
        0m0 g0dz n03z!
      • teleGUISE
        Schika: ;O
      • mustaqil_
teleGUISE, XChat seems to correct "teh" for me automatically
      • teleGUISE
schika: i started researching that "at the least" "at least" comment and going to shoot the english teacher ( i believe) that told me that
      • mustaqil_ just the word 'the' (teh)?
      • SenRepus
        omg i got teh clap
      • Schika
should I shoot mine or you have to shoot your teacher?
      • teleGUISE
it was a bit back.. can't remember if it was my teacher or just someone who was a teacher...
      • but my thinking is the one who told me.. cuz it looks like the idiom "at least" is correct
      • mustaqil_
        I've not found/noticed any others
      • Mudcrow
what's happened to all the album covers?
      • teleGUISE
we removed them all to save space :)
      • not that they were save here in the first place but....
      • or should i say "at least" is acceptable ...
      • though dictionary.com does -not- present it as the first choice when searched for
      • Mudcrow
      • I spent bloody ages adding artwork
      • teleGUISE
mudcrow_ I have found that to happen several times to me as well.. and it doesnt make sense cuz usually
      • Schika
      • Mudcrow
I know why, the USA asin points to a user image http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006333C8
      • teleGUISE
whats your language preference set at?
      • Schika
I get the best results in use of http://dict.leo.org - so far as I know
      • teleGUISE
        im sorry your amazon preference
      • Mudcrow
its just looking at images at amazon.com and not where I linked the image too
      • amazon.uk
      • teleGUISE
schika: wheres the english?? i click the british flag and everything is still german
      • Schika
one side is english the other german - always
      • teleGUISE
no i meant on the main page... itself .. not the result page
      • never mind i see the text tag 'english version' on the left hand side
      • i was clicking the flag thinking it would change... which it should but...
      • mudcrow: not sure... no matter what amazon country i set it does the same.. like i said ive had the same thing happen with US ASINS when for sure amazon us has a image -not- a user one.
      • and i look at the url and it will be the same -exact- format as a working one.. just a different asin
      • i haven't been able to narrow it down but i guess filing a bug report with the particular album and asin might be enough to try and track down
      • Schika
regarding to [untitled] tracks, I did this http://musicbrainz.org/album/4a7a026d-8c42-45ec... to differ all the [untitled] tracks from this artist.
      • teleGUISE
im sure someone wont like it.. but "at least" :) distinguish them.. so im ok with it
      • err.. crap "at least" it helps distinguish them..
      • Schika
teleGUISE, where are you from? UK or US?
      • teleGUISE
you cant tell from my spelling :)... The U.S.
      • Schika
for my excuse ... we learn in Germany the british english
      • nikki_ grins
      • teleGUISE
in the least and at the least must be 'proper' english back from ancient times and the idiom 'at least' must have been new skool or 19th century stuff
      • Schika
like "dance" with attention to the "a"
      • teleGUISE
not sure how old u r.. but schooling back in the day, tended to be more concerned with "as it was written in the year 1504" vs. what is commonly excepted and considered correct in modern society
      • u know we used books with cloth covers and binders and were taught what an abacus was once used for :O
      • SenRepus has quit
      • WolfsongOpera
        LOL @ teleGUISE
      • teleGUISE
nikki by chance did you glance at that crypto link?
      • SenRepus joined the channel
      • wolfsongopera_ Hey.. I even know how to use a rotary dial telephone
      • nikki_
        vaguely
      • nikki_ is quite busy
      • teleGUISE: I *have* one of those
      • teleGUISE will never forget the kids that came into my shop with there parent and asked what it was and how did they use it!!
      • teleGUISE
        s/there/their
      • nikki_ where is it made and how old is it?
      • nikki_
        don't know, quite old
      • I remember when it used to be our primary phone :)
      • teleGUISE
if you remember some time ... take a look .. curious
      • nikki_ is eating
      • whenever... today.tomorrow.next week.
      • might want to buy/bribe it from ya if it's something i dont already have and unique
      • nikki_
        noooope.
      • dseomn
      • nikki_
        I noticed that
      • dseomn
        ok
      • teleGUISE
        same with /nolanguage/
      • nikki_ OH... forgot don't know if you saw.. that I Thanked yourself and inhouseuk for the bogus date report and that we celebrated cuz I cleaned it off. All removed and corrected!
      • mustaqil_ has quit
      • ruaok
        those reports new?
      • nikki_ did see
      • nikki_
        no
      • teleGUISE: it doesn't say anything on it
      • teleGUISE
        just a tele report...
      • nikki_ ah.. ok just a Euro version of the American workhorse the 500 set --- heres a nice bright one for ya - http://oldphones.com/catalog/500lime-2.jpg
      • nikki_
that looks far too modern :P
      • teleGUISE
It is a semi-modern one.. cuz may be hard for you to notice but the 'curly' cord is flat wire instead of round and the plugs are modular and not hard wired in
      • wolfsong misses those old dogs
      • nikki_
        the numbers look weird too.
      • teleGUISE
older -real- original ones had thicker round curly wire
      • donredman joined the channel
      • donredman
        hi
      • nikki_
        hi don!
      • wolfsong waves @ donredman
      • teleGUISE
that was a Bell/ATT/ITT version... the GTE ones were slightly different... they were the oddball company
      • donredman waves back
      • WolfsongOpera waves from the other direction
      • nikki_
ours always had the numbers inside the finger holes
      • teleGUISE
i was just going to say that ;)
      • nikki_
I don't remember if it ever had letters, the round bit in the middle had so many stickers on it over the years that I've no idea what it originally looked like
      • donredman
wolfsong: do you want to work on the Wikidocs stuff?
      • and luks: are you around?
      • teleGUISE
well the letters should have been there.. it was a way to encode the number
      • luks
        yes
      • teleGUISE
if this guy actually gets $235 for this still... i will fall over!! ... I would be rich - http://oldphones.com/Detail.bok?no=13
      • donredman
you are maintaining the PicardTagger page on the wiki, right?
      • luks
        i wouldn't say "maintaining" :)
      • Schika
aaah, while entering track durations, it will not clear the "?:??" field "on active" - I mean when I tab or click into the field
      • donredman
well, you keep it up to date :-)
      • WolfsongOpera
        donredman: yes
      • luks
        yes
      • donredman
it is one of the first wiki docs pages.
      • teleGUISE
schika: stupid question but does it have a disc id by chance?
      • Shepard says 'ouch' about the pokes and prods
      • donredman
So, if Rob would give you WikiDocsModerator status, you could shove up the revision number, everytime you want a wiki change to appear on the main site
      • Shepard
someone asked for a handy german speaker?
      • donredman is not handy ;-)
      • Schika
I try to figure out how to submit disc id's for my vinyls ... o_o
      • mustaqila
Shep, was I, too late now though
      • luks
        donredman: sure
      • Shepard
        I know you're not a handy, don ;)
      • mustaqila
It's alrady added, you should be able to mod out the capitalisation if you need to
      • mustaqila points to his open mods randomly
      • nikki_
        Shepard!
      • WolfsongOpera
        donredman: do i need rights?
      • Shepard
        yes, please?
      • donredman
        wolfsong: yes, I'll ask Robert
      • ruaok: ping?
      • teleGUISE
schika: luks could tell ya how :)
      • WolfsongOpera
        and is there a howto?
      • donredman
or luks can you do that, too?
      • luks
        and what?
      • or wikidocsmoderator privs?
      • nope, i can't do that
      • -or
      • ruaok
done. log out and back in.
      • donredman
        for both luks and wolfsong?
      • ruaok
        now, yes
      • donredman
        thanks
      • moin brigens :-)
