the AR link points to the MusicMoz entry, which doesn't contain any direct data and the links provided don't go to any valid pages
      • should we keep musicmoz links where they aren't giving any data of value?
      • Shepard
        it was the server ghost!
      • yllona
can you have both the ARs "was member of" and "did vocal support for"?
      • or do i need yo use "performs vocal" on each track?
      • ruaok
yllona: mo was asking for that the other day, but didn't get much in the way of support...
      • yllona
        ah, i missed it.
      • wasn't here, or i would have responded
      • Shepard
you can link vocal performance to a whole album
      • what's the problem?
      • Mudcrow_ joined the channel
      • yllona
no problem, just a question. can i have two relationships at teh album level for chaka khan: "member of" and "performs vocal support"
      • inhouseuk
member of would be at the artist level
      • Shepard
there is neither "member of" nor "support" at the album level
      • yllona
mo: what's bogus about the name "Echoes of an Era"
      • Shepard
        yllona: the sortname was wrong
      • yllona
sheep: sorry, i meant group/band level
      • Shepard
I'm not listening to that nick :)
      • yllona
ah the sort name, got it.
      • Shepard
        "support" is a person--person relationship
      • but well, read the docs
      • yllona
shep: sorry again, need to switch to speech-to-text, having bad day with typing
      • shep: okay will do, this is my first time seeing the AR, bee away for a bit
      • Shepard
        jup it's not so old
      • yllona
okay shep, one more question. according to the docs is should use collaboration for this relationship, because there's only one album released -- except they've performed together live, and on other albums released under other names
      • so is it still a collaboration? or" member of"
      • Shepard
can't tell, don't know the case
      • yllona
        okay.
      • i'll use collab, until some "live" bootlegs show up on MB
      • Shepard
is it for the Echos of an Era?
      • yllona
        yes.
      • Shepard
        who collaborated there?
      • yllona
chaka kahn, stanley clarke, chick corea, freddie hubbard, joe henderson, lennie white
      • it's basically "return to forever" with chaka khan on vocals and joe henderson on sax.
      • Shepard
        sounds ok
      • yllona
        *lenny white
      • the relationship or the album? :) the album is *really* good
      • Mudcrow has quit
      • Shepard
        the relationship
      • yllona
        'k
      • but then there's a collab for Rufus & chaka khan and they recorded multiple albums... so what's the deal?
      • saxpoet joined the channel
      • Shepard
        does it have a name?
      • saxpoet
        good morning, afternoon, evening etc.
      • Shepard
        time-of-day!
      • yllona
shep: the band "rufus & chaka khan"?
      • Shepard
        yes
      • yllona
      • Shepard
well if it's called like that then it's a collaboration
      • yllona
i'd say she was a member, was also "rufus featuring chaka kahn"
      • Shepard
our old definition was that it's only a collaboration if they worked together for a longer time, but that's what changed with SG5DR
      • saxpoet
I believe that they are already i the database as a group ... they recorded under the dual name for many years
      • yllona
but i'll go with collb, if that's the official deal.
      • saxpoet: yep, like 10-12 years (or more).
      • saxpoet
kinda like crosby stills nash & young
      • or hamilton, joe frank, and reynolds
      • yllona
yes, then rufus had 5 or six albums without chaka too.
      • i think the "official" breakup was '83, only to record together again :)
      • saxpoet
those memphis folks never *really* break up :)
      • langseth has left the channel
      • I have some more server weirdness to report today ... using both MSIE and Netscape
      • I accomplished a freedb import earlier today ... and now every time I start another, no matter what i enter into the field for caategory and number, the ld one pops up. so I continued and abandoned when given the opportunity, but it still happens
      • inhouseuk
that sounds like browser auto completion
      • saxpoet
        two different browsers
      • same results
      • inhouseuk
do you mean that even if you enter a different cat/id, the same album comes up?
      • saxpoet
        yes
      • so I closed netscape and went to MSIE to make sure that autocomplete of a hung cookie was not the problem... and got the same result
      • inhouseuk
Hmm, strange. Do you have a proxy set on the browsers?
      • saxpoet
yes ... think it is the problem?
      • I installed an accellerator proxy a week or so ago
      • inhouseuk
possibly, can you take out the proxy entry and try again
      • saxpoet
you guys are good! I stopped the proxy and the import started with no problem!!
      • inhouseuk
        :)
      • saxpoet
that wazs probably the source of my login problem yesterday too
      • inhouseuk has spent too many years in IT support!
      • ty again ...
      • yllona
dies anyone know the german pop band VSOP? (not to be confused with the legendary jazz band V.S.O.P)
      • ruaok
        FUCK!
      • The $500 donation we got was probably fraudulent. Crap. Bummer. :-(
      • djce
        :-(
      • Shepard
        :O
      • ruaok
the bank balance was looking all nice and happy after that. oh well.
      • wankers all around the planet.
      • inhouseuk
I could understand somebody using a paypal account fraudulently to purchase goods or services. But, donating to a non-profit?
      • LTjake has quit
      • unless it was for revenge to empty the real holders account
      • djce
Maybe the "nag" *really* annoyed them :-)
      • ruaok
        inhouseuk: agreed. its very silly.
      • last time someone disputed a $5 donation, I spent a bunch of time stating my side of the case.
      • then paypal told me fuck you and charged me a $10 resolution fee on top of that.
      • if there was an alternative to paypal, I'd take it in a second.
      • inhouseuk
ruaok, you might want to investigate worldpay - http://www.worldpay.com/usa/
      • ruaok
        thanks for the tip inhouseuk
      • djce: the mail issues on catbus: simply ignore catbus for now.
      • inhouseuk
one company I was doing some work for are using them for credit card processing
      • djce
        sure
      • ruaok
once lingling is up to speed, I will reinstall catbus with dapper
      • djce
        what's dapper?
      • ruaok
        the april release of ubuntu
      • I've become a real fan of ubuntu server.
      • djce
        ah
      • ruaok
the best bare bones install. :)
      • mustaqila
        Dapper Drake ain't it?
      • ruaok nods
      • Hmmmm
      • djce
I've become a big fan of my "find-unused-dpkg" script.
      • mustaqila remembers when he got 251 or so Ubuntu CDs in the mail...
      • Excellent way to de-crap a server :-)
      • ruaok
yup. my preferred way right now is to install new OSes.
      • :-)
      • djce
Yeah, but even new OSes are often bundled with crap.
      • Even if you ask for nothing.
      • And even if not, it's all too easy to gradually accumulate packages that you then have no idea if you need or not.
      • ruaok
        agreed.
      • come to think of it, I will run your script on a clean install of breezy badger
      • tru ponder how much work it would be to make drapper pkgs for picard.
      • djce
I'd be interested to see what it comes up with.
      • Just out of interest, the first version of that script was for rpm, not dpkg.
      • tru
        djce: url to the script?
      • djce
Most of our Red Hat servers had approx 600-700 packages.
      • After "decrapping", it's typically 200 or so.
      • tru: I'll upload it somewhere shortly.
      • ruaok
djce do you have a dpkg version?
      • djce
        sure.
      • Gimme two minutes...
      • Bad_Seed joined the channel
      • ok ten minutes then. http://djce.org.uk/utils
      • all feedback welcomed :-)
      • ruaok installs the needed perl module
      • ruaok
        hmmm CPAN can't find AptPkg::Cache
      • i /Apt/
      • grrr
      • djce
        It's an apt package.
      • apt-get install libapt-dpkg-perl IIRC
      • libapt-pkg-perl
      • ruaok
        yup
      • djce: first piece of feedback. It should complain about not finding the conf file BEFORE scanning the packages
      • djce
        ok
      • ruaok
        Found 111 unwanted packages
      • yllona
        shep: you there?
      • djce
Based on /my/ config though presumably? Unless you had a chance to customise it already.
      • ruaok
        yes, your config.
      • Shepard
        yllona: yes
      • yllona
shep: can you help me with this? an album in the wrong place (again). There is a Euro band VSOP, and the jazz band V.S.O.P
      • Shepard
      • yllona
i think this album: needs to be moved, to VSOP (euro pop band)... it's certainly not Herbie hancock and Tony Williams :)
