sooo, if there is a two disc album released on certain country, and later a version where the second disc has been dropped out is released in another country, should the disc 1 of the two disc version, and the lonely disc of the another version be separate in MB?

Kilu: yes. You'd have (disc 1) + (disc 2) of the original release and also an entry without any disc numbers

I have a server related question which sometimes annoy me. why is this that some links to albums are in a "showalbum.html?albumid=" form while others are "/album/0ceb624b-5325-4478-9f51-290dfb57fa0f.html" form?

the old showalbum form is used when you click on links on the search screen

the search subsystem doesn't have the UUID, just the rowid. so the old-style links are generated

I like the old style links better because they are shorter

an artist already has the alias Hammer, and a Japanese band needed the same alias too

Jetpack: otherwise the seach for hammer doesn't show the asian artist and the tracks for it are getting filed under MC Hammer at last.fm

i thought the search function used sortnames

about one year ago the unique on artist names was dropped

it turned out to cause lots of trouble, so be careful if you drop uniqueness :-)
