hmm.. if i do an MBS_SelectAlbum and then MBS_SelectTrack, will it stay within the album or does it select from all tracks within the returned query?

yeah.. according to the docs it would appear that select per default works in result context..

zanaga
so how do i select a track from an album...
2005-05-22 14206, 2005
zanaga
(to get the artist name)
2005-05-22 14209, 2005
yalaforge
ask Charalambos, I think he knows
2005-05-22 14221, 2005
zanaga
hmm.. nevermind, i got it.
2005-05-22 14255, 2005
zanaga
apparently AlbumGetArtistName works on a track...
2005-05-22 14205, 2005
zanaga
ah well as long as it works
2005-05-22 14226, 2005
zanaga
right.. this is pretty dumb, but it works. So to get the artist of an album you need to query the artist of the first track.
2005-05-22 14246, 2005
zanaga
ah well, i'm not looking for pretty. As long as it works, i'm happy.

i think it's a good way to manage VA
2005-05-22 14252, 2005
KAeL
if each track has an artist :)

VA is a case of it's own, but this is for non-VA album
2005-05-22 14217, 2005
zanaga
with VA that makes sense
2005-05-22 14252, 2005
KAeL
that's strange, and AlbumGetArtistName isn't very well chosen if it applies to each track :)
2005-05-22 14239, 2005
zanaga
yeah.. and i would have assumed it applied to the album only

what are you doing ? :)
2005-05-22 14257, 2005

i'm making a script that creates a cue sheet for my leech^Wbacked up mp3 files.

that someone^Wi created without splitting up the mp3 or creating the proper metadata

that could be usefull :)

hmph.. it's hell to do any work when you have to avoid using any keyboard shortcuts, even copy&paste is painful
2005-05-22 14238, 2005
KAeL
why can't u use keyboard shortcuts ?
2005-05-22 14250, 2005
zanaga
i'm using Breezy, which is pretty broken at the moment. keyboard shortcuts behave all funny and can cause dataloss. CTRL-L in nautilus appears to do the same as CTRL-W, CTRL-A in gedit was CTRL-W or something more destructive.

so until xkb is fixed, i'll just have to suffer.

i used to use debian for years, but it's just getting too old and slow.
2005-05-22 14212, 2005
zanaga
not slow as in running speed, but slow as in slow releases.
2005-05-22 14202, 2005
yalaforge uses debian-testing, it things are reasonably up to date
2005-05-22 14210, 2005
tru
debian unstable is still fast.

I apparently use unstable, but I haven't upgraded in so long that it's probably more like testing now.

true, but security updates were a pain (up until the official freeze)
