oh I'd throw a hissy fit too if I didn't have to figure out how to put a duet for a track between the lead actor and the composer
      • 2005-12-01 33502, 2005

      • nechto13
I can't get away with having two leads right?
      • 2005-12-01 33510, 2005

      • yllona
there is no concept of duet (or any other ensemble singing) on MB. for duets i juat add both as lead vocal on the track, or if i'm feeling ambitious (soprano, tenor, etc)
      • 2005-12-01 33523, 2005

      • yllona
brb, running downstairs to check dogs, it's awful quiet ;)
      • 2005-12-01 33536, 2005

      • nechto13
allright two leads coming up. I'm sure that one of them is not a lead but I can't figure out which vocal they perfom it's probably tenor, but it could be a contra-tenor or maybe even a barritone. well I doubt barritone.
      • 2005-12-01 33509, 2005

      • nechto13
as a matter of fact if anyone wants to help me out with the type of vocal you can listen to it here http://www.russiandvd.com/store/album_asx.asp?sku…

      • 2005-12-01 33538, 2005

      • yllona
it's definitely not counter-tenor (that sounds like a female soprano, it's a castrati)
      • 2005-12-01 33532, 2005

      • yllona
i'd make the lead vocal a tenor, or high baritone
      • 2005-12-01 33554, 2005

      • yllona
tenor, would be safest. what's this song about?
      • 2005-12-01 33514, 2005

      • nechto13
that was actually the composer singing

it sounds like a drinking song, or a variation of a folk song

counter tenors are males with very high voices, the roles used to be sung by a eunuch (castrato) until that was made illegal sometime in the late 19th century
      • 2005-12-01 33522, 2005

      • yllona
so i doubt *any* of the musketeers would be sung by a counter-tenor :P

      • nechto13
no, I've known about her for a while she's very famous in russia and other republics that were a part of soviet union
      • 2005-12-01 33555, 2005

      • nechto13
I actually can't find her on amazon

      • 2005-12-01 33524, 2005

      • nechto13
what kills me is that she's virtually unknown in US and rest of Europe and she was an amazing singer
      • 2005-12-01 33527, 2005

      • yllona
hmmm, what's her record label, i can't read the russianDVD web site
      • 2005-12-01 33504, 2005

      • nechto13
there's a switch to english link at the top of the page and the record label, which released the DVD is called JAM
      • 2005-12-01 33550, 2005

      • nechto13
the problem with most artists that used to make music in soviet times is that the music belonged to the state. Now that there's no more soviet union it's pretty much free for all, because no one has the right to her music. that's why I believe you can find releases of her music by different labels
      • 2005-12-01 33520, 2005

      • nechto13
at this point I'm convinced that anyone can start a label in russia and release her music
      • 2005-12-01 33526, 2005

      • yllona

for me it usually depends on the artist, for most of the russian pop singers now I wouldn't want to buy their cd even if they had a couple of songs I like
      • 2005-12-01 33514, 2005
