behold, the power of copy+paste. The source of many an error.

djce is away: for a bit
danbri
beer, will do

yalaforge
hi
g0|away
cikkolata, yalaforge: please be nice to me, it's hard enough without mockery that i am not able to run a server ;)
yalaforge
hey, as I said: I know it's difficult
I think it took me 3 days to get my first mb_server running
cikkolata is not being serious though :)
(and apache+postgres were already working)
cikkolata
I can't remember how long it took me to get the data to import
ruaok
g0|away: good natured ribbing is part of the open source development process.
yalaforge
IMHO it got much easier. djce did a great work on the DB scripts
ruaok
no one means you any harm or thinks less of you because you're having a hard time getting started.
It really *isn't* an easy task.
yalaforge
damn right!
ruaok
yalaforge: you're right about djce's work.
cikkolata
because everyone had a hard time getting started? :P
cikkolata scowls
yalaforge
who messed with your artists? :-)
cikkolata
how am I supposed to add a release when the three places I can find it say holland, germany and austria as the country of release...
cikkolata laughs
nobody yet
it was either all three or people are confused
although I still don't know what to do about the stuff someone added earlier with the original names and transliterations in the titles.
yalaforge
go, latin-1, go!
yalaforge hides
cikkolata
icky!
canidae
what's wrong with latin-1? :)
ruaok runs
cikkolata
it doesn't support most of the stuff I want
cikkolata thinks
yalaforge
canidae: we got away with it. unbelievable!
canidae
hehe
yalaforge
my editor still doesn't support utf-8 :-(
cikkolata
editor?
yalaforge
perhaps I should at least switch to latin-9
nvi
cikkolata
ah
cikkolata uses vim
yalaforge
seems to be the only vi clone with proper unicode support
too bad that I don't like it much
canidae just had some fun earlier... he ordered a couple dvd's from japan... everything was in english until the last page, which was in katakana. quite amusing :)
cikkolata
vim works fine for me o_O
yalaforge
I used it for about 4-5 years. it got too bloated, IMHO
cikkolata
ah
canidae
i had to pick between two buttons... one that i after 15 minutes found out said "kuria" ("clear", i think it means in english) and the other had a couple funny syllables which i never really found out what said :)
cikkolata
heh, I changed my windows install in vmware to japanese and then java decided to install in japanese instead of giving me an option
took me a while to work out what suteetasu meant
yalaforge still has trouble with his german java. *brrr*
canidae
cikkolata: heh, nice idea... guess i should try installing debian in japanese once :D
cikkolata giggles
cikkolata
I've been tempted to install debian in other languages because it gives me sooo many options
canidae
cikkolata: what's the difference between "sama" & "san" as a suffix? i got a mail with "vidar-sama" (a bit amusing, i thought), but why "sama" and not "san"? :)
is this some difference in politeness level?
cikkolata
yes
sama is more polite or whatever.
san is more equal
canidae
i see
cikkolata
sama always feels like someone's worshipping someone else to me
yalaforge
night all!
yalaforge has quit
canidae
intriguing... if i should translate the meaning of my first name and middle name to japanese, i should get a name like "MIDORIYA Rinji", i think :)
i'm not sure what my last name really means... apparently it's finnish or something :p
cikkolata
my name meant victory about 10 versions ago, now it just means "we didn't like that spelling"
canidae
heh
PlanarPlatypus joined the channel
theem has quit
maybe my last name would be something like "ebisusa", whatever that's supposed to mean (my last name is "wahlberg" which roughly could mean "foreign berg") :)
or "foreign mountain"
lindestinel joined the channel
just for the record: firefox is pretty unstable in debian64 :)
damnit, all my tabs!
cikkolata
that's why I like opera, if it crashes it just opens with all my tabs again
canidae
opera is nice enough, although i prefer the opensource solution :)
cikkolata
heh
canidae
hmm... maybe i should've taken that as a hint... i still haven't done this horrible er-diagram for tomorrow :\
canidae stabs the one who invented er-diagrams in the face
cikkolata
er-diagram?
canidae
entity-relationship... uh, chart? i'm sure my english book said "diagram"... that's an english word, right? :)
cikkolata
diagram is an english word, yes
canidae
ah, yes... entity-relationship diagram then :)
cikkolata
oh, like what people do for databases?
canidae
yeah
cikkolata understands now
ruaok
djce: you already got some testing feedback posted to mb-users
canidae
err, sorry... i'm so used to it by now that i consider it a word everybody know :\
cikkolata
oh, I didn't know they had names
canidae
there's plenty of them!
you got "use-case" diagrams, "dfd" (data flow diagrams) and the er diagram... plenty more, but these are the ones i remember right now
and dfd got several levels
"uml" (unified model language, i think)
i'm beginning to suspect that all these diagrams just is a bad pun or something...
