      • would I still need that .pc thingy if I installed sqlite3 from fink?
      • tru
I think sqlite3 from fink includes the .pc file.

looks like i finally fond my way here. i won't be here much but it is nice to know that i can get in to get questions answered. ;)
      • dseomn
        first time using irc?
      • PRAEst76
        heh
      • I was quite suprised though, people here are rarely as drunk and abusive as elsewhere on IRC
      • Trongersoll
first time in about 10 years. I got fed up with splits happening all the time. I use Gaim and noticed it had irc capabilitys so i thought i'd see if it worked.
      • PRAEst76
Erm... we still get splits all the time.
      • dseomn
        not *that* often
      • Trongersoll
yeah, but this is also the only interactive palce to get questions answered so that is the price i'll pay
      • place even
      • PRAEst76
I don't remember IRC ten years ago. maybe it was worse.
      • Trongersoll
I used to use a vt100 terminal on a vax to access it.
      • hmmm more like 20 years ago now that i think about it.
      • PRAEst76
sorry, with my generation a Vax is a brand of vacuum cleaner and my model didn't come with a terminal. Cleans carpets though...
      • gaim is great but it can't clean carpets... although i hear someone is working on a plugin

      • PRAEst76

      • anyway must get my arshe in gear and mattee
      • PRAEst76
I picked it up from hanging with the local linux crew
      • dseomn
_mo: ++ in c and many other languages means add 1 to the variable
      • normally day++ would mean skip to tomorrow, but I think day is supposed to be the quality of today in this case
      • PRAEst76
        yes
      • PRAEst76 resolves to stop using terms he doesn't understand
      • dseomn
        QOfDay++
      • actually qOfDay++ is more C-ish
      • PRAEst76
Could be a bit Orwellian: DoublePlusgood
      • I'd ask people that use such terms but i fear they wouldn't know either

It's always ok if you learn from your mistakes.
      • yesterday i learned not to cook suing hairy carrots that you found in the cupboard and don't remember buying.
      • nikki_
        hmm...
      • nikki_ laughs
      • last time, mike, bonnie, tilly and I all tried making some
      • PRAEst76
Unless you enjoy spending half the night in the bathroom... I dunno...
      • nikki_
        but they all sucked
      • PRAEst76
        they sucked on the oatcakes?
      • nikki_
mike always says he can't cook, yet his tasted the best
      • no, dammit!
      • PRAEst76
        do i know these people?
      • nikki_
        the oatcakes were crap!
      • nope!
      • they're people I know
      • PRAEst76
thank god, I'm always forgetting folks. It's so rudeof me.
      • I'm always releved to find out I genuinely don't know people
      • nikki_
bonnie tried cooking them like omelettes, and ended up with a pile of bits of oatcake
      • ruaok
        nikki_: yeah, I know.
      • PRAEst76
        Oatcake crumble
      • ruaok
I got here yesterday and crashed hard.
      • woke up at the right time, so that's good.
      • can't call any of my friends yet. :-)
      • nikki_
it's easier than saying "someone I know, someone else I know, some other person I know who isn't the two I've already mentioned" and so on.
      • dseomn
        what are oatcakes?
      • nikki_
        think pancakes made with oats
      • dseomn
        sounds good
      • nikki_
        pancakes are easier to make
      • dseomn
they'd just need a bit more eggs to keep them together, right?
      • dseomn loves cooking
      • nikki_

hello ppl. i think i finally fixed the opera sidebar bug (not sure)
      • ruaok is away: foraging for food
      • Fuchs
        g0llum: doesn't work here
      • g0llum
which page is it? it worked for me on most pages opera 8.0/win32
      • depends on the contents of the page itself a bit
      • luks has quit
      • Fuchs
g0llum: you mean the "the sidebar always comes back when changing the page" or the "content gets shifted when enabling the sidebar" bug?
      • g0llum
        content gets shifted
      • Fuchs
      • g0llum
i've never heard of the other
      • have you cleared your browser cache?
      • certainly, the first must have something to do with cookie handling being broken on the client side
      • i've worked in your css fixed, this should be fixed at least now
      • Fuchs
where the f... do i explicitely clear the cache in opera? :)
      • g0llum
clear private data i guess. but that deletes everything
      • no, its configurable. splendid
      • Fuchs
found it for the disc cache - i better clear it and restart ;)
      • g0llum
        it works for me here.
      • and in any case, if it happens clicking hide/show again works
      • Fuchs
woo, now he loaded about 250kb - but the bug is still there
      • g0llum
        version/os?
      • Fuchs
        opera 8.02 debian sid
      • the other bug is fixed in konqueror and firfox (linux) now, but i still see it in opera
      • warp doesn't get the menus :)
      • maybe the cache is still not empty :/
