Shepard: I have an idea for the third form

the same as the medley proposal, but with the part style (w/o commas) as the song names

e.g. "Foo: Part 1 / Part 2: Bar / Part 3"

you left out for what to do when words similar to medley are used but not actually medley

and not entirely clear on repeated tracks inside a medley

for if a song goes Foo: bar, baz, bar

for that I'd probably just put that in the way it is

as long as the song doesn't have ' / ' in it there wouldn't be a problem

why should a song be repeated in a medley? like a theme which is repeated in a jazz song?

I don't know why they do it, they just do

I've never been clear on why artists do medleys in the first place

medleys are fun to dance to (only applies to dance music of course)

is a mashup when the songs are mixed together out of sequence and not in parts or complete form (i.e. 5s or one song 10s of another, back to the first, etc.)?

the difference betwene medly and mashup is that medlyes are *recoded* (covered) by band/singer/whatsit, (and often paritally, not the whole song, or only instrumental, not with the words is also common) while mashup is sound from the original artist that is manipulated by a thirparty.
