hello folks! i just signed up at musicbrainz.org and i use the ieatbrainz tag client. i have a question... is this a good forum for it?

There might be an ieatbrainz expert here, if your question is specific to that application.

djce: thanks... i'll take a chance. there are some songs in my library that arent recognized. i filled in my login info in ieatbrainz. my question is, when i fill in the info for such songs (or they are discovered from the id3 etc tag) i want it to be sent up to musicbrainz so it is of use to others. my question was whether ieatbrainz does this automatically...

ieatbrainz was not written by the same people as the rest of musicbrainz.

So, questions about the musicbrainz web site, or the windows Tagger, I could help you with.

ok... but is there a way to tell, from the musicbrainz entry? i notice that one of my songs, which was not recognized by musicbrainz, now shows up there (a day later). was it because of an update from me, or someone else? the web page for the song, at musicbrainz, does not mention who submitted it...

If you go to http://musicbrainz.org/user/view.html then click on "Moderations", you'll be able to see changes made to the database by your account.

So if that shows up any instances of "add album" or "add track", then good, you added it :-)

in a similar manner, you can choose "view mods" for an album or a track, to see who added it

If a remix is written title (remix name by Remix-bloke) do we remove the "by Remix-bloke" bit if we put that info in AR or do we leave it?

True. It's just there seems to be no real concensus on this so it could lead to arguments later on.

I'm looking at http://musicbrainz.org/showalbum.html?albumid=3... specifically at the moment which seems to have a mixture. some of the remixers credits have been removed, some remain.

PRAEst76: so f.e. "Kruder Mix" would have to include the remix artist, "remix by Kruder" is a good candidate to keep it, too because it has no real remix-name, but "Often I Feel Tired mix by DJ FooBar" doesn't really need this info to seperate this mix from other mixes of the same song

Everything's Cool (Youth's Safe As Milk Mix), would you take Youth out or leave it? It remains in discogs but been removed here. I'd be inclined to leave it as it adds character to the mixname... i dunno. I dislike the way the mixnames get really long if you lerave the remixer credit in. Like those Renegade Soundwave mixes.

in most cases where the remixer appears befor the "mix/remix/edit" i keep it, I wouldn't have removed it here

Amazon are far from experts when it comes to naming stuff.

They often fluff up the titles even when the album sleeve is there in all it's glory
