allmusic has the latest album under her old name, though it was released under the new one.
      • 2004-06-06 15800, 2004

      • tma
it would seem that the latter usage is what she would prefer to be known as, if she has started using that exclusively
      • 2004-06-06 15822, 2004

      • tma
so that version should be the primary name for the artist, and the old usage should be an alias
      • 2004-06-06 15847, 2004

      • somniloquy
K, I'll see if I can set it up like that...

although that's not exactly illegal music.. wonder if voicemail recordings can be shared like that without consent
      • 2004-06-06 15855, 2004

      • tma
        it depends on the country
      • 2004-06-06 15835, 2004

      • tma
and there'd be an argument that if you know you're being recorded (ie: voicemail implies this) then the person who recorded it can do whatever they like with it
      • 2004-06-06 15845, 2004

      • tma
but that also depends on the laws in the country in question

      • 2004-06-06 15844, 2004

      • somniloquy
Just a bit odd for an album attribute.
      • 2004-06-06 15855, 2004

      • tma
well, some limited edition versions of LPs and CDs are cut into a special shape
      • 2004-06-06 15809, 2004

      • somniloquy
Yeah, I've seen one, maybe two.

they aren't very common, but I thought it was valid meta-data
      • 2004-06-06 15831, 2004

      • andyg
do we also need "release data-set" for info such as UPC/EAN/ASIN
      • 2004-06-06 15835, 2004

      • somniloquy
        Yep.

      • tma
        andyg: yes, good point
      • 2004-06-06 15812, 2004

      • andyg
        however...
      • 2004-06-06 15854, 2004

      • andyg
I was imagining a release as being like a 2-cd album, not as broad as you defined it like having all versions of a single under 1 release
      • 2004-06-06 15812, 2004

      • andyg
in that case, you'd have multiple ASIN/UPC/EAN values
      • 2004-06-06 15835, 2004

      • tma
yes, as stated in the problems area, there will be a lot of redundancy
      • 2004-06-06 15821, 2004

      • tma
the way you imagine the "release" is closer to the "Sets" part of the proposal
      • 2004-06-06 15849, 2004

      • andyg
        ah ok
      • 2004-06-06 15808, 2004

      • andyg
you've put a lot more thought into it than I have :)
      • 2004-06-06 15809, 2004

      • tma
so a Release can be a Set which has the two discs in it
      • 2004-06-06 15825, 2004

      • tma
well, I was trying to cover a lot of bases :)

it was very easy, actually. you just need a working gdb, attach it to one of the running apache processes, and cause the segfault. the output in gdb tells you which perl module it carked in
