verus
i ran findtags on mine =]
2687 tags do you want them icepick
icepick
sure... esp if they are raw from the wilds of the internet
verus
oh then you wouldn't want them
they are tunetaggered onces
yalaforge
my tags are pretty boring, hm?
icepick
ahh...
I should try tagging with itunes and wmp
yalaforge
I've got some with id3v2.2
icepick
2.2 tags are my lowest priority... might just write code that will update them to 2.3/2.4 with out allowing write access
but so far I've found less 2.4 tags than 2.4
yalaforge
the v2.2 stuff has been encoded by itunes
I don't know if itunes still uses 2.2
icepick
really ? that's yucky
yalaforge
TEN (Encoded by): iTunes v2.0.2
that's what your id3v2(1) says
icepick
I need to "upgrade" id3v2(1) and make it a python app
yalaforge
that would be great

Wow. I just had a 1.5 hour conversation with our IP lawyer.
Quite interesting all around. Seems like we're in good shape and now we have some more direction on some of the legal issues that were pending.
I may not ever get more code written, but at least we're less likely to get sued.
djce is back (gone 01:54:17)

djce: I have the legal framework/limitations for the copyprotected CD issue in place.
djce
the above: good news
excellent
ruaok
Its time for me to get back to Peter and let him know how to proceed.
And, as long as we provide a DMCA take down notice and register a take down notice agent with the copyright office, our Arbitraty URL feature should be legally in the clear.
ruaok should learn to spell arbitrarrary
djce
me too :-)
ruaok
I'm jazzed.
djce
what does the "register a take down notice agent"... bit mean?
Someone has to be a nominated person to enact the removals?
ruaok
Yes.
djce
That doesn't sound too onerous.
ruaok
We will need to pay $25 to the copyright office (US) to register ourselves as a takedown agent.
djce
yearly fee?
ruaok
In case one of the links violates someone's copyright, that agent would be notified to take down the offending content.
icepick

ruaok
once, I believe.
Then it would be our job to remove the offending link within 24 - 72 hours to be good citizens and not get our asses sued off.
djce
Who would be registered? A real person, with a phone number etc? Or an e-mail address or other contact point?
ruaok
The former -- I would register myself.
As an official representative of the MB non-profit.
djce
ok, that all sounds cool.
ruaok
But, I could turn this around and pass it on to a trusted team of MB experts to address.
Yes, I'm pleased by this conversation.
djce
it's great news, if it allows progress to be made on the .dk front
ruaok
He had a lot of positive things to say about our proactive nature to identifying and addressing legal issues.
Mutiny
icepick-away: You got my email right?
ruaok
djce: it should. I will draft a mail to Peter today.
djce
ruaok: self-preservation is a powerful force :-)
ruaok
There are a number of emails that I am slacking on.
Including my report from OSCON.
djce
I'm just slacking on code :-( I've not been very productive for the last few weeks, I'm afraid to say.
ruaok
You and me both. :-(
But summer will do that to you.
Summer is the least productive for me.
djce
I think so. I blame summer for all sorts of woes.
ruaok
But I'm looking forward to the post BM time -- things quiet down and I get TONS of work done in the fall.
djce
BM is September isn't it?
ruaok
I'm looking forward to your add moderation note at time of moderation feature.
