I was wondering if musicbrainz is applying for mentoring students at google's summer of code?

nice. I had an interesting idea which i wanted to share and see if it would interest the musicbrainz community

it has to do with creating tags for songs based on lyrics and meanings of the song.

That sounds like akin to what folk song cataloguers have done. Also note that MusicBrainz *does* not, *can* not, and *will* not store song lyrics.

And it's already possible for people to tag works with tags denoting meanings or interpretations or topics touches upon in a song.

So implementing the tagging is not a GSoC worthy task.

I'm not saying your idea doesn't have merit, just that there's a bunch of things you have to be aware of. :)

well, as i point out, tagging is one part of the problem. recommendation involves tagging and matching. Well, it would be my first time for GSoc, so i dont really know which tasks are worthy

chirlu`: I’m sure americans are used to click uk flag and belgian and canadians used to click fr flag to see the websites in their language because many sites use them and because they know where their language come from

Well, the menu is orange active

It's just that annoyingly, activity is hover right now :p

tabs lose purpose if the thing it opens is not the same color as the tab

(I have a PR to make it open/close on click too, and I'd be very happy to keep it just click based and remove the hover tbh :/ )

That a menu heading is basically "active" while the menu is open and that's orange

(even though technically that's a hover effect)

D4RK-PH0ENiX: I disagree with using webfonts for icons as that will severely degrade the experience of people visiting using a NoScript or similar.

i don’t like webfonts that much either

The site is supposed to work for visitors without JS, so while webfonts are not JS, I would include this under that.

I personally switched to svg with png fallback on my service because of that tbh

and we should have our own style ;)

I would be fine with switching to SVGs.

Hopefully we'll drop support for that ancient IE at next schema change and we can use SVGs more freely. :)
