hey colbydray, somebody was requesting in #metabrainz that a release be added. I gave them your twitter handle. Hope that was okay.

kepstin, Rotab: "one week ago, a colleague and i went over all the pending jira issues for the two of us, and that one made the shortlist of ones we intend to address over the next 2-4 weeks"
If you'd rather I didn't give out your name in the future, feel free to yell at me :-)

In other news, I finally looked at your wiki front page design. I really like the idea of adding multi-columns and a header to pages in general. Nice work on the design.
colbydray, also, I finally took a closer look at your wiki front page design. In general, I really like the idea of using multi-column layouts and headers where appropriate. Nice.

If your source is a WCD thread, by all means, link it (but also include relevant quotations for people without access to WCD and for when/if WCD disappears).

On the other hand, we usually try to get people using mb.o/doc/ instead of the wiki, so the number of people who see your cool design would be limited :-(

what's WCD?

Rotab: Despite it being very overkill, I scan and upload 1200 dpi PNGs. The CAA can handle it, so don't worry too much about it.

kepstin
the main issue I have with 1200dpi pngs is that the downscales done by archive.org - particularly for the 1200 size once they add it - will not look nearly as good as a manually downscaled/cleaned up image.

but it certainly does otherwise count as a "high quality scan" :)

kepstin: Well, my uploads are raw, unedited scans anyway, so...

Is anybody actively going through the CAA and cleaning up high-resolution/un-touched-up images?

The most editing I've done is rotating them.

That is, are there CAA oompa loompas?

CallerNo6: not as far as I know. I don't think there's any good way to find them :/

ah, good point

CallerNo6: Does it matter? The uploads are there for when someone is. :p And I also plan to one day return to at least my own uploads and start touching them up.

But not for the foreseeable future.

Freso, sure. I was just curious. Some people like to specialize.

But the CAA is a better backup place for the raw scans than my harddisks for that future endeavour.

kepstin has a fancy new build of the gimp supporting high-bit-depth images, so he scans at 1200dpi 16bit per channel (48bit per pixel) nowadays

editing scans certainly uses a lot of ram with that kind of source image :/
2016-08-12 22507, 2016

as far as I can tell, there's no real advantage to it :)

mine only has 16gb, since I built it on a mini-itx board with only 2 ram slots

(with ddr3, max is 8gb per stick; they've upped that to 16gb/stick with ddr4)
the things that mention making columns sortable (as well as show performance durations, etc, are they part of that script or others? (also the columns sortable thing, is there a way ot get thato n like, every page?))

A 300dpi cd cover scan is around 1400px, and 1000px seemed just a little bit too small (particularly for posters, which we're looking at adding)
