hi anyone, I have a downloaded album which has a Unicode "combining circumflex accent" (%CC%82) after the letter 'e' in the title
2017-05-17 13742, 2017
pt
in MB the album title currently uses "latin small letter e with circumflex" (%C3%AA)
2017-05-17 13749, 2017
pt
not a Unicode expert, but just wondering which should ideally be used in MB?

I assume it's just two different ways to encode the same symbol, but last.fm considers them different

Which one is ê ?
2017-05-17 13733, 2017
reosarevok
(that's the one my Spanish keyboard makes, so the one I'd use by default - I'm not sure what the Unicode Consortium prefers, but I suspect it's the one that's precomposed

2017-05-17 13753, 2017
CatQuest
precomposed probably yes
2017-05-17 13713, 2017
pt
downloaded album title is: De Mim, Pra Você
2017-05-17 13729, 2017
pt
in musicbrains, it's: De Mim, Pra Você

The one my keyboard makes is indeed "latin small letter e with circumflex"
2017-05-17 13721, 2017
reosarevok
I'd use that

I wonder if we should consider doing e.g. NFC normalization on data entered into musicbrainz
2017-05-17 13706, 2017
kepstin
(that's the one that normalizes to precomposed characters when identical to decomposed versions)
