hi anyone, I have a downloaded album which has a Unicode "combining circumflex accent" (%CC%82) after the letter 'e' in the title

in MB the album title currently uses "latin small letter e with circumflex" (%C3%AA)

not a Unicode expert, but just wondering which should ideally be used in MB?

I assume it's just two different ways to encode the same symbol, but last.fm considers them different

Which one is ê ?

(that's the one my Spanish keyboard makes, so the one I'd use by default - I'm not sure what the Unicode Consortium prefers, but I suspect it's the one that's precomposed

I wonder if we should consider doing e.g. NFC normalization on data entered into musicbrainz

(that's the one that normalizes to precomposed characters when identical to decomposed versions)

Whoever it was, the script doesn't work anymore. CD Baby changed their URL format from www.cdbaby.com to store.cdbaby.com

it coudl possibly be edited...

hibiscuskazeneko: you need to make a separate mb server jira ticket to make cd baby url links in mb not auto format back to "www" as any url (like https://store.cdbaby.com/Artist/ErikScott) will revert back to https://www.cdbaby.com/Artist/ErikScott (and since that it wrong now, it should be changed :))

I would, but we don't have any autoselect for CD Baby URLs.

it atleast auto changes back any link with something else than www back to www, it can have purchase mailorder and purchase download, but since it can be either/or (like on bandcamp) it must be selected, (but url is autoformated)

I entered a JIRA ticket a while back for an artist-level autoselect, IIRC
