What's your take on it ?

Do I need to make another ticket or can this one be converted to a style ticket?

hey guys, i found 2 strange issues today and i'd like to know what is going on. the first thing is the following:
2019-04-06 09602, 2019
Gazooo has quit

is it intended that if you merge two artists with the same name, the relationship credits will be: "artist (creditd as artist)" instead of just artist?
2019-04-06 09648, 2019
culinko
assuming none of the relationships before were credited with an artist credit before

it would make sense to keep the relationships ACs if they was present before the merge or if the first artist was a different name, but they were identical
MBS-10056: Automatically remove relationship artist credits when they are same as artist name

rdswift
That sounds like the same thing alright.
2019-04-06 09600, 2019
culinko
yeah
2019-04-06 09606, 2019
rdswift
Not sure I understand your comment about "no merge in the edit history".
2019-04-06 09655, 2019
culinko
the same thing happened in the ticket but there was no merge for the artist mentioned in the ticket
2019-04-06 09607, 2019
culinko
so there are multiple ways to trigger this issue
2019-04-06 09611, 2019
culinko
the issue is the same however
2019-04-06 09652, 2019
rdswift
Oh, that is odd. Does sound like the same issue though.
2019-04-06 09655, 2019
culinko
and about my second issue:

is it correct that if you are changing a recording AC and you are also merging the artist in the initial AC, that the edit will fail? or was that just a fluke?
i can re-do the edits i'm just wondering if i should be careful about edits like this in the future and not change AC with entity that has a merge open
2019-04-06 09658, 2019
rdswift
I hope that isn't the case, because it sounds like a PITA to keep a future To-Do list.
(i'm talking about the first relationship issue and not the failed edits one in the above reply)
2019-04-06 09618, 2019
rdswift
I wonder if the failed edit was because it referred to the id number of the artist that was merged into a different id number?
2019-04-06 09621, 2019
rdswift
I don't know if it did or did not refer to the merge target. Just grasping at straws.

Lotheric: I think it's more in the sense that it is "a stylistical issue". yvanzo seems to think it should be changed and he's French so he knows what he's talking about
2019-04-06 09615, 2019
reosarevok
If he thinks it should be allowed then we should allow it

Also deux-points, that sounds like our results in Eurovision

reosarevok: idk if this can be changed in this specific case but i found that after you change the relationship AC, the artist name will receive the orange border (indicating that the entity has open edits) however that is misleading because the relationship AC change is an auto-edit :)
That’s intentional. Imagine there are 10 relationships for that URL, the orange is used to show which ones have been changed.
2019-04-06 09633, 2019
culinko
ah, it makes sense then
2019-04-06 09610, 2019
culinko
wait i just realized the same happens when you are adding relationships which are also autoedits
2019-04-06 09628, 2019
Freso
IIRC it’s also colour coded so that brand new relationships will be green, altered ones will be yellow(/orange), and removed ones will be red.
2019-04-06 09625, 2019
culinko
you are correct
2019-04-06 09631, 2019
culinko
i guess i just didn't expect the AC change on relationships to be auto-edits, cause AC changes on entities aren't
2019-04-06 09622, 2019
Freso
Entity AC changes are potentially destructive (e.g., if an artist is completely removed from a credit and it’s the only credit that artist is on/in, the artist risks getting removed from MB by ModBot), but relationship ACs are never destructive (since they will only ever point to a single entity).
