Well, alright. I guess if that’s what was in mind, that’s what’s in mind.
      • 2015-01-03 00314, 2015

      • hawke2
So what needs to change to get studio sessions into MB?
      • 2015-01-03 00328, 2015

      • hawke2
Does it require a whole new entity?
      • 2015-01-03 00327, 2015

      • hawke2
(And if so, how would that entity differ from an Event?)
      • 2015-01-03 00343, 2015

      • reosarevok
Well, depends on what we want them to have, look like, and be used for, I guess. So giving all the info you can about those things would be good
      • 2015-01-03 00301, 2015

      • reosarevok
Then it'd need discussion, and to see who else wants to use it and how - this is a thing that could use some "old-school" style discussion I think
      • 2015-01-03 00308, 2015

      • hawke2
Were it up to me, they would literally be the same as events. I mean, if one really wanted to be anal about it, I guess you could restrict people from saying they attended them.
      • 2015-01-03 00321, 2015

      • reosarevok
(not as in RFCs and the like, but just posting to the list and asking about)
      • 2015-01-03 00327, 2015

      • hawke2
        Sure.
      • 2015-01-03 00352, 2015

      • reosarevok
Well, at the very least we'd need to write some code for them not to appear on the same list as live events, but that can be done with a type if desired
      • 2015-01-03 00301, 2015

      • hawke2
        Which list is that?
      • 2015-01-03 00331, 2015

      • reosarevok
artist/events, which is supposed to basically be a "gigography" in the same way as overview is a discography
      • 2015-01-03 00355, 2015

      • reosarevok
(which reminds me how much I'd like to have /works clearly separated on written vs. performed, too)
      • 2015-01-03 00344, 2015

      • reosarevok
I mean, we could have them both there with some clear separation of live / studio sessions, same as with the works idea. It'd need thought, anyway :)(
      • 2015-01-03 00346, 2015

      • reosarevok
        -)
      • 2015-01-03 00319, 2015

      • hawke2
I …also wouldn’t hide studio sessions from events. Being able to sort/filter would be nice for sure, but…
      • 2015-01-03 00310, 2015

      • reosarevok
Well, I'd present them separate by default for sure
      • 2015-01-03 00342, 2015

      • hawke2
It’s like saying “releases are only meant to be albums” or “releases are only meant to be studio albums”. Which some people would be all about, I’m sure, but you’re still missing a bunch of stuff if you do that.
      • 2015-01-03 00322, 2015

      • Freso
KRS-Cuan: I have 9 pages on that report, filtered.
      • 2015-01-03 00326, 2015

      • reosarevok
I'd either have two tabs, /events and /sessions, or one tab with two sub-sections, live and sessions, I guess
      • 2015-01-03 00350, 2015

      • reosarevok
        Heh
      • 2015-01-03 00358, 2015

      • reosarevok
I suspect I'd have around 9 myself too with the rap only
      • 2015-01-03 00308, 2015

      • reosarevok
It's the classical making it bigger
      • 2015-01-03 00353, 2015

      • hawke2
reosarevok: and does doing that require anything more than just adding a new event type? I think it’s basically just a preference of what you might want to see at any time.
      • 2015-01-03 00315, 2015

      • hawke2
Just like sometimes you might want to only see 'main performer' events and sometimes you want 'guest performer' events
      • 2015-01-03 00354, 2015

      • reosarevok
Not necessarily. As I said, it's not necessarily an issue of "how big the code changes are". It needs debate to see if we do want to track this stuff, and if we do, whether we want it as an event type
      • 2015-01-03 00314, 2015

      • reosarevok
(I do feel like sessions and live events are somewhat related, but I also feel like they shouldn't be on the same list, even if they're done with the same entity - the difference between a concert and a session is much bigger to me than the difference between a headliner concert and a support concert)
      • 2015-01-03 00354, 2015

      • reosarevok
(so, I'd like to have two lists for those, and I'd like those to be filter-able so you can also specifically check for headliner appearances on the live list)
      • 2015-01-03 00355, 2015

      • reosarevok
Unrelated but wtf https://rateyourmusic.com/film/back_to_the_ussr__… kinda want to watch this now

“David Gilmour at Royal Albert Hall” specifically
      • 2015-01-03 00335, 2015

      • hawke2
If that list is supposed to be “David Bowie concerts” anyway.
      • 2015-01-03 00328, 2015

      • reosarevok
        Well, that's a concert where Bowie performed - it's as much a Bowie concert as "X feat. Y" is a release by Y I guess :)
      • 2015-01-03 00336, 2015

      • reosarevok
        (so, not very, but still)
      • 2015-01-03 00350, 2015

      • hawke2
        Yeah. :-D
      • 2015-01-03 00322, 2015

      • hawke2
I take it though that you find the 5 non-concert events to be very out of place there?
      • 2015-01-03 00349, 2015

      • reosarevok
        Heh. Radio/TV stuff is... weird
      • 2015-01-03 00346, 2015

      • 2015-01-03 00320, 2015

      • reosarevok
It "feels" less out of place than straight studio sessions, and we need to find a decent way to deal with them anyway since KEXP wanted to add theirs, heh. I'm not fully sure how I feel about it yet :)
      • 2015-01-03 00355, 2015

      • hawke2
“an organised event which people can attend” → well, TV shows often have live audiences, so people can attend that…
      • 2015-01-03 00317, 2015

      • reosarevok
It's one of the things I need to think about - for now, I'm fine with them being added as events though. It's also one thing I might eventually want to filter away from live event stuff, but
      • 2015-01-03 00342, 2015

      • reosarevok
I'll eventually open a debate for this. For now, your approach seems ok
      • 2015-01-03 00356, 2015

      • reosarevok
Tag them as radio or tv or something to find them easily in case we add a type ;)
      • 2015-01-03 00321, 2015

      • hawke2
Did I already request a new type for radio show? I feel like I did, but I might not have gotten to it.
      • 2015-01-03 00332, 2015

      • reosarevok

      • reosarevok
I'll look at that eventually. A bit swamped right now, but I do plan to dedicate a couple hours per day to look at old and new tickets fwiw :)
      • 2015-01-03 00310, 2015

      • reosarevok
So hopefully will get better, heh
      • 2015-01-03 00316, 2015

      • hawke2
        Yeah, no worries.
      • 2015-01-03 00329, 2015

      • reosarevok
(would be easier if I didn't start fixing 13-CD comps instead, but)
      • 2015-01-03 00358, 2015

      • hawke2
Looking at “Storytellers” though, it occurs to me that a TV show which is also a concert, would potentially be problematic.
      • 2015-01-03 00336, 2015

      • hawke2
Without multi-select anyway, which seems ridiculous for such an edge case.
      • 2015-01-03 00334, 2015

      • hawke2
Like, I certainly wouldn’t want a 'radio show' event for every time someone plays a song on the radio.
      • 2015-01-03 00319, 2015

      • hawke2
But it seems weird to say “oh, that ‘concert’ was technically recorded the night before and broadcast later, therefore not live and not an event”
