There seems to be an epidemic of editors not leaving notes
      • KRSCuan
        You mean a pandemic.
      • CallerNo6
new editors who haven't heard the good word? or old editors who are getting lazy (and who doesn't sometimes?)?
      • Freso
hibiscuskazeneko: You say that like it's a new thing…
      • sleezio joined the channel
      • hibiscuskazeneko
CallerNo6: These are editors who have been around quite a while
      • 2-3 years on average
      • CallerNo6
ah. then they've gone off the rails on the lazy train.
      • hibiscuskazeneko
and Ozzy shoved them there? :P
      • sleezio
hello, how do you change the album name after you've already matched against musicbrainz database?example: i dropped a folder(album) in and it matched a specific album, but that album didn't have cover art, but the 'other version' option in rightclick menu only shows the one version, but i see on music brains there's the same album, but a few more words added to that album name
      • example, i've saved the files as 'Yellow Submarine', but the one i want is 'Yellow Submarine Songtrack'
      • maybe i'm asking how to retag files?
      • CallerNo6
sleezio, but it's only the cover art you're concerned with?
      • hibiscuskazeneko
I think he wants to manually select a particular edition
      • sleezio
this time, yes, i'm not sure if i can add my own coverart, i didn't see an option
      • hibiscuskazeneko
sleezio, you can do that by selecting the release in Unmatched files and clicking "Lookup in Browser"
      • (I'm not sure who you're replying to)
      • sleezio
there are no unmatched, all songs in this album were matched/saved
      • there's 2 version of the same album, i'm wanting to switch...retag the album
      • CallerNo6
sleezio, and you want to retag only to get the cover art, correct?
      • sleezio
i matched/saved as yellow submarine, i'd like to retag these files to yellow submarine songtrack album
      • yes
      • unless there's a way i can manually add the coverart and save
      • Freso
sleezio: If the releases are in the same release group, you should be able to right-click the release in Picard and there should be an option for "Other versions" or something like that.
      • sleezio
right, i tried, but it only shows the 1 version
      • how can i retag the files?
      • chungy
you're probably looking for this? https://musicbrainz.org/release-group/8d5f4b07-...
      • sleezio
everytime i 'add folder', it auto matches them to existing album
      • CallerNo6
oh, right. "Yellow Submarine Songtrack" is a different release.
      • chungy
add ?tport=8000 to the end of the URL and you get Tagger links that Picard will use
      • sleezio
        yes
      • CallerNo6
        er, release-group
      • sleezio
chungy, weird, it shows lots of versions, but MB app is only showing me the one
      • chungy
different release groups for the standalone album and the soundtrack
      • sleezio
ok, how do i redo these files since they've already been tagged?
      • Freso
sleezio: Did you do the ?tport?
      • sleezio
        i'll try
      • yes, but nothing changed
      • Freso
Once you've loaded the proper release into Picard, simply drag the files/tracks from the release they're currently filed in into the newly loaded one.
      • sleezio
      • Freso
sleezio: Navigate to the release on musicbrainz.org that you want.
      • It should have a small green "Tagger" icon. Click that.
      • Zastai
if picard is set to listen at a port (and there are no firewall issues) there should be a green Tagger label to the right of the release name. clicking on that should load the release in picard
      • sleezio
i've tried clicking the green 'tag' icon as well, nothing happens
      • Freso
sleezio: Try to "lookup in browser" from Picard.
      • If Picard is using a different port for whatever reason, that should tell the browser what port that is.
      • Zastai
having said that freso, just tried it myself by just adding that to the url and it doesn't work even though I have picard open. guess the browser page needs to originate from a picard lookup
      • sleezio
well, i may need to port forward 8000 in router
      • Zastai
        right
      • chungy
the link is to 127.0.0.1, no port forwards should be necessary
      • Freso
Zastai: Works fine as long as Picard actually listens on :8000.
      • chungy
look at the bottom of Picard's window, it should say what port it's listening on. Normally is 8000
      • sleezio
bottom right of picard: 'Listening on port 8000'
      • Freso
(Lately, I've taken to just drag'n'dropping the URLs from the browser into Picard instead though.)
      • CallerNo6
I don' want to confuse the issue, and it's good to learn how to retag a set of files, but it seems like what you really wanted to do is use the release-group cover art, which is an option in picard 1.3+.
      • Freso
CallerNo6: Ehm. No. Because the release they're currently tagged as is in the wrong release group, so that would still not give the proper CA.
      • CallerNo6
Freso, Is it the wrong release group? Maybe I misunderstood. I thought the only issue was grabbing cover art from a different version.
      • sleezio
      • Freso
What they want is to get the proper release loaded in Picard so they can tag the files as that release (and use the CA of that release/group.)
      • CallerNo6: The release it's currently tagged as is apparently the only release in its group.
      • sleezio
adding ?tport=8000 to end of url or clicking the green tag on screen is doing anything
      • Freso
sleezio: try dragging the link to the release into Picard.
      • (The link is in e.g., the header/title of the page, or the "Overview" tab.)
      • sleezio
drag the url of the release i want into the left panel in picard?
      • aah, something happened
      • that was added when i drug the url into picard
      • Freso
        Yep.
      • sleezio
ok, i'm still not sure what to do with this
      • Freso
So drag the tracks from the wrong release to the new release.
      • sleezio
        aah
      • Freso
(You can select multiple tracks and move them all in one go.)
      • sleezio
        working, thanks
      • Freso
CallerNo6: https://beta.musicbrainz.org/release-group/ac36... is the RG Picard originally assigned sleezio's files to.
      • CallerNo6
        ah, well, that's a problem
      • Freso
I would ask LordSputnik if that should be merged with the other one (it would seem so from its Discogs page), but I don't know enough about Beatles discography to care/dare to initiate that merge. :)
      • Leftmost
        Do it. Doooooo iiiiiiiit.
      • Freso
        WP:BB, eh?
      • Freso WP:BB's
      • CallerNo6
If that should be a separate RG, I would expect a good comment and annotation.
      • sleezio
        SWEEEET, THAT DID THE TRICK
      • oops
      • thanks for the help, guys
      • Freso
Well, it seems like the soundtrack is also from '69, so I guess it's not too far off to believe the single-release RG is the odd one out.
      • sleezio: Cheers. :)
      • Leftmost
Wir alle wohnen auf ein gelbes Submarine, ein gelbes Submarine... *doesn't know the German word for submarine*
      • Freso made the edit
      • CallerNo6
Also, Freso, jeez. Get familiar with the Beatles.
      • Freso
        unterwasserbot
      • CallerNo6
        haha
      • Freso
        *Unterwasserbot
      • CallerNo6
        bot, not boot?
      • yeeeargh
        boot
      • Freso doesn't know if "bot" is actually German for "boat" though... :|
      • Freso also doesn't actually know if that'd be the German word, but the Danish word directly translates to "under water boat"…
