I think I need some help
      • I'm trying to merge a bunch of recordings but so many recordings have matching AcoustIDs (and two have the same ISRC) but their times are all over the placae
      • place*
      • wat do?
      • The reason I want to merge these is there are a bunch of mashups that I want to be credited together

How i can attach a pdf book (from downloaded archive) to a release ? That's a 138-pages pdf booklet from a digital release, with links to websites (so conversion to images isn't that great).
      • afaik, the pdf document isn't available online (just in the archive)
      • HibiscusKazeneko
I don't know if we support PDFs
      • zas
        CAA doesn't
      • HibiscusKazeneko
        so you're SOL
      • zas
I could upload the document somewhere and put a link to in Annotation
      • HibiscusKazeneko
        true
      • but that would be dangerous
      • zas
in this case the booklet is very useful since it is a compilation of many small and unknown bands, the pdf has infos about them
      • HibiscusKazeneko
        true
      • I have a release with 2 digital booklets included
      • zas
        many do nowaday
      • HibiscusKazeneko
I haven't bothered to upload them anywhere or link to them since they're both locked
      • and I fear for my life
      • nikki
zas: you could also vote for http://tickets.musicbrainz.org/browse/MBS-4116 :P
      • HibiscusKazeneko
        Voted
      • Would locked PDFs be uploadable?
      • zas
        voted, it is a must
      • nikki: did you know each ticket number from memory ? ;)
      • HibiscusKazeneko
        I've wondered that too
      • zas
it is incredible as ticket number always appear, that's almost magical, thanks nikki ;)
      • nikki
I imagine the IA would accept them, not sure how well they'd work though
      • and no, I don't, I just know what to search for XD
      • HibiscusKazeneko
I do worry extensively about the CAA
      • especially after reading through Wikipedia's image policies
      • nikki: I'm having issues uploading cover art
      • nikki
        what sort of issues?
      • HibiscusKazeneko
it'll say it was a success and then when I click on the image it'll give me a 404 error
      • as if the image never went through but the edit did
      • this is my second attempt
      • nikki
it looks like it's just being laggy on the IA's side
      • HibiscusKazeneko
try opening the image link directly
      • then you'll see what I mena
      • mean*

      • HibiscusKazeneko
        hi
      • I lost the connection for some reason
      • reosarevok joined the channel
      • nikki
as I was about to say: yes, the files haven't made it to the right place yet, so it's a 404
      • HibiscusKazeneko
        this is not good
      • nikki
the IA is largely a big mystery and I may be completely wrong, but as I understand it, files first get uploaded to an incoming area, then they're moved to the correct place, and sometimes there's a delay between files arriving in the incoming area and being moved to the correct place
      • simukis_ joined the channel
      • HibiscusKazeneko
and if they don't get filed in time it ruins the edit?
      • nikki
the edit won't be affected by it, it just won't be displayed
      • HibiscusKazeneko
so effectively it's a wasted effort
      • reosarevok
        er?
      • No, effectively it'll take a while to appear
      • ariscop joined the channel
      • Oh, HibiscusKazeneko: IIRC you have an RFC ready for RFV since a while ago, when you have some time feel free to send that ;)
      • HibiscusKazeneko
        sure
      • RFV sent
      • now to figure out how to get Picard's CD lookup to work
      • it's giving me an error message saying "Cannot open /dev/disk2"
      • reosarevok
        On OSX? Try rdisk2
      • HibiscusKazeneko
        same error message
      • at least it recognizes that the drive is there
      • nikki
if /dev/rdisk2 doesn't work, then it's probably changed numbers
      • HibiscusKazeneko
        that doesn't work either
      • I tried /rdisk3 and /rdisk4 and it still didn't work
      • even /disk0s2 doesn't work
      • hazrpg joined the channel
      • hazrpg joined the channel
      • the optical drive is showing up as /dev/disk1 in Terminal, yet I typed that in Picard and it still can't open anything
      • is this some kind of security feature?
      • nikki
        does /dev/rdisk1 work?
      • v6lur joined the channel
      • Nyanko-sensei
        then it's /dev/rdisk1
      • ruaok joined the channel

      • zas
HibiscusKazeneko: which version of Picard ?
      • HibiscusKazeneko
        1.2
      • zas
JonnyJD_ has made some improvements regarding drive detection on latest master, you should give it a try and report
      • especially concerning MacOSX
      • nikki hasn't seen anything about an osx build
      • voiceinsideyou joined the channel
      • nikki: true, we have no "latest" build for osx :(
      • who did 1.2 packages for macosx ? luks?
      • nikki
        bitmap, I believe
      • zas
        bitmap: ping ;)
      • luks_
it would be ideal to have some os x machine always online and create something like the windows daily builds
      • but I just can't convince myself to buy and run a mac mini just for this purpose
      • Nyanko-sensei
I can run those on my home laptop >.>
      • JonnyJD_
for anybody interested to make a build: http://wiki.musicbrainz.org/User:Bitmap/Buildin...
      • Nyanko-sensei
it's an old macbook with ML installed on it
      • oh. I was regularly building it while I was using OSX to manage metadata. now I'm using my gaming rig for that, which is windows
      • that being said, I need to write the wiki entries before sending a RFV for my RFC
      • reosarevok
I'd RFV only for mini-album for now
      • (since there seems to be a fair bit of opposition for release-level maxi-single)
      • Nyanko-sensei
should I send one more RFC, separately?
      • maxi singles won't go anywhere, while CDs still get released
      • and japan doesn't really like the term EP
      • reosarevok
        Sorry, release-group level
      • The issue is we have nowhere to set it where it really fits
      • Because release group level is messy because (at least outside Japan) maxi-singles and normal singles of the same song are often produced
      • Nyanko-sensei
well, I can live with maxis being called singles
      • reosarevok
(and they should share an RG)
      • Mini-album does seem like a much more RG-levelish thing, so that should be fine to RFV I think :)
      • Nyanko-sensei
europe calls them mini-LPs or something, IIRC
      • mini-albums, that is
      • anyway, I'll write the wiki entry, send it to the RFC discussion and then send an RFV for mini-albums first, then maxi-singles later
      • santiissopasse joined the channel
      • maxis could be a sub-group, I think
      • considering the non-asian releases
      • reosarevok
Well, it could maybe, but we don't have code for that :)
      • So it's much less trivial
      • Nyanko-sensei
        oh
      • roger that. *proceeds writing the wiki entry*
