JonnyJD_ hawke thanks for the userjs tips, i appreciate ! what i said is that i’d like to hear some thoughts by the other userjs writers, what they might do (i’m not the only one in http://userscripts.org:8080/tags/musicbrainz) — as changing platform has drawbacks, i don’t want to go a lonely whay then having to move again when all the others choose otherwise…

ok i have growing requests to host my userscripts on github… i have to make sure my e-mail adress will no more be in my (future) commits now… Freso, i hope i will not bother you too much if i have issues, i’ll try to make it OK from the starting commit number 1…

jesus2099: you can rewrite your history
jesus2099
in the github account, what would be smart to do ? create a “musicbrainz-userscripts” reopo or a “userscripts” repo with a “musicbrainz” folder ?
simukis_: ah if it’s my repo it’s ok yeah but i had some commits in the metabrainz/musicbrainz repo, i shouldn’t change them, right, simukis_ ?
(and i woldn’t know how to change history despite being jesus, btw)
simukis_
yeah, you should stick to rewriting histories of yet unpublished commits.
jesus2099
oh i think (not sure but) amount of repo is limited for free users of github, isn’t it ?
if so, i’ll make a “userscripts” repo
Ackis
jesus2099: what about hosting on the other userscript pages?
and by that I mean there's multiple sites taking over
jesus2099
i don’t understand, Ackis
simukis_
jesus2099: github doesn’t allow having free repositories at all if you’re not a paying customer
Ackis: the problem is exactly that it is « THOSE sites » (plural form) i don’t know which to choose…
simukis_
Public repositories are unlimited, but private repositories are.
(or I might have read too deep into your question)
jesus2099
and anywayn, Ackis, they require you to host your scripts on github
simukis_ notices his head isn’t working for communicating in english. Goes back to chatting with C compiler
simukis_: same for me (english)
but ok :)

jesus2099: I think you choose which mail is used for on-site edits in the configuration. I tend not to do on-site edits though
and I would say https://openuserjs.org/groups is the best alternative so far, because you can create a musicbrainz group to gather all MB related scripts
jesus2099
i have a primaery e-mail and another fake e-mail
JonnyJD_: greasything makes those groups automatically, even better imo…
they get it from your @include tags… it’s smarter imo
JonnyJD_
jesus2099: there are musicbrainz script that work on non-mb sites though (additionally) like the discogs importer. Not sure how that works, but that would also be fine I guess
jesus2099
oh yes you’re right
hopefully those of mine also have some mb features so they would also appear there, but you’re right !
JonnyJD_
well, you possibly search for "discogs.com" scripts anyways when you want the discogs->MB importer
jesus2099: on GitHub one of your email addresses is marked as "public". This one will be use for on-site commits
jesus2099: you even have a checkbox to use a github-provided address (mine is JonnyJD [at users.noreply.github.com])
my primary address is marked as private but they say that [primary address] is used for any web based GitHub operations
OH but indeed at the end of the page they (contradict) say « Keep my email address private We will use jesus2099 [at users.noreply.github.com] when performing Git operations and sending email on your behalf. » and i do have already checked that optin§
JonnyJD_
you can do a test commit on a test-branch to test that
jesus2099
but so i cannot use my fake e-mail for commits as i need to set it primary and then i won’t receive any github emails (which is risky for, let’s say, password recovery)
JonnyJD_
I guess github itself still uses your real address
when sending your notification messages
jesus2099
JonnyJD_: i think i’ll stick with my local repo and only putsch to github ;)
too many unsure worries otherwise
so which script do you want me to start with ?
JonnyJD_
something with collections *g*
jesus2099 i’ll start with maybe i should start with those that are updated only on my PC…
