the work gets added, but nothing gets added to it
      • JESUS2099
        ah…
      • it’s not fixed anyway, that’s why :)
      • i thought it was working for adds but no ? k…… :)
      • HibiscusKazeneko
        I didn't think so
      • It only works for edits, and even then it's finicky
      • JESUS2099
strange… for me it was the opposite… NG for edits, clumsy for adds :/ anyway it doesn’t matter as it has to be fixed (really has because i can’t manipulate works any more either)
      • same for INLUNE STUFF, i can’t see if there are ISRC and CAA any more
      • but i will be very busy these days as always… so, sorry pls wait…
      • god night !

hmm. can we use work attributes in searches?
      • reosarevok
        Doubt it
      • kepstin_
hmm. Could we have displayed JASRAC IDs show up as links to a lookup page like the ISWCs do?
      • Gentlecat joined the channel
      • reosarevok
Well, the ISWCs have their own "entity"-like code and everything
      • But I suspect we could do some kind of direct-to-search link
      • kepstin_
A "direct to search" think probably wouldn't be as useful for stuff like key
      • s/think/link/
      • "Sure, I want to search for all the songs in the key of D!"

        totally
      • reosarevok
        haha

"I want to find the average key of all Justin Bieber songs first published between 2011 and 2014."
      • s/average/median/
      • CallerNo6
        que the "a minor" joke
      • reosarevok
        ... lol
      • Freso
        XD
      • xplat
Freso: you can't even median keys because they go in a loop
      • mode, sure
      • but you'd probably have an easier time making mean mean something meaningful than median
      • Freso
xplat: If you have five works in the key of D, one in the key of C, and two in the key of Bb, the median key would be D.
      • xplat
Freso: what if you have five works in the key of D, one in the key of C, and five in the key of Bb?
      • Freso
Bb, Bb, C, >> D, D, << D, D, D -- the mean key of those two marked would be the median key. Which would be D.
      • xplat: C.
      • I didn't mean for the query to be useful.
      • But it's definitely easier to find a median key than a mean one.
      • xplat
        Freso: why wouldn't you arrange them D, D, D, D, D, Bb, Bb, Bb, Bb, Bb, C?
      • Freso
xplat: Because that's not how sort() would place them. :)
      • xplat
so when they changed H to B all the median keys would change?
      • daktak joined the channel
      • Freso
They never changed that where I'm from.
      • CallerNo6 now wonders if ICU collate handles sharps and flats
      • xplat
        oh, you still have H?
      • Freso
Ugh. A lot of keys are missing from the work attribute keys. :/
      • xplat: Yeah. I think all/most of Scandinavia still operates with H.
      • xplat
so ... median keys depend on locale ...
      • lol
      • Freso
xplat: Anyway, it should probably be sorted the same way MB sorts, so "C, D*5, Bb*5".
      • reosarevok
        Freso: they are?
      • I mean, a lot of "theoretical" keys are missing, but IIRC we even have a couple that are basically never used
      • Freso
(If I had intended that query to be useful, I would not have made it against JB.)
      • reosarevok: What's a "theoretical" key?
      • xplat
        what keys are missing?
      • the key of J
      • drsaunders
        Life
      • xplat
        the key of Higgs boson
      • drsaunders
if you're a stevie wonder fan
      • Freso
Ionic, doric, frygian, lydian, mixolydian, ...
      • xplat
the key of A flat major general
      • reosarevok
Ok, yes, we only have the standard scale
      • Freso
        :|
      • xplat
hm, a lot of stuff doesn't use the standard scale even these days
      • drsaunders
does the skeleton key count for all keys?
      • reosarevok
Most of that stuff doesn't really indicate a key anywhere on easily-accessed stuff though
      • xplat
pentatonic, chromatic, abusing the heck out of the whammy bar ...
      • Freso
It's fairly common for trad. to use esp. mixolydian scales.
      • reosarevok
I think I mentioned that before, but the idea of this was basically having a place to store keys for classical work which have "in key X" on their titles :p
      • Since those are the only ones where there's an obvious source of the info
      • So that's what we shipped with
      • Now, if people want other keys, well, by all means ask for them!
