... we should replace the icon with something appropriate based on the release media type ;)
Leftmost
I just like gtk.
kepstin-work
(digital media releases just get no icon at all)
Leftmost
kepstin-work, not a picture of bits?
ianmcorvidae ponders what we'd even do if we had some sort of north-american MB summit
hawke_1
Leftmost: well, the picture *is* bits…right? ;-)
Leftmost
But it's not a picture OF bits!
hawke_1
ianmcorvidae: eat chocolate!
Leftmost
ianmcorvidae, drink local craft beers and argue about style guidelines?
ianmcorvidae
haha
kepstin-work
but brain, isn't that what we do every day?
Leftmost
Yes, but right now we're doing it in different rooms.
ianmcorvidae
kepstin-work: not *together* though :P
kepstin-work watched entirely too much http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinky_and_the_Brain in the past :/
Leftmost
Too... much?
ianmcorvidae
heh
Leftmost
The same thing we do every night, Pinky... try to assemble a vast, yet consistent and accurate database of audio recording metadata.
ianmcorvidae is now imagining a bunch of us getting together, getting sugar-high and/or slightly tipsy, then storming a local record store to enter things into MB :P
Charge in through the door waving laptops.
ianmcorvidae
(presumably getting kicked out :P)
Leftmost
Now #musicbrainz-de is hopping, but #musicbrainz-ga is so quiet.
ianmcorvidae
bah, I didn't realize you guys actually did that :P
Leftmost
Natürlich. :-P (Not one of my favorite words in German or anything...)
Quick, everyone go learn Irish so #musicbrainz-ga can be lively.
ianmcorvidae
lol
GRMule_
Thanks for the help earlier, guys (and gal[s?]). I imagine I will find cause to return in the coming days -- take care :)

Linux laptop users, which brand do you use? Helping someone shop, and I have my own opinions, but wanted to get feedback from others.
ianmcorvidae
I have a zareason, myself
but thinkpad is the obvious choice
hawke_1
Dell here, but not particularly by choice.
System76 are nice
simukis_
Leftmost: using a general Asus here. One should check for components' compatibility instead of looking at brand of assembler.
Leftmost
simukis_, right, though some brands (Lenovo, for example) tend to have better default component loadouts, coupled with good general build quality.
simukis_
heh…
my standard for a features I'd like to see in my next laptop has grown so much lately I can't find anything what would fit my taste anymore 😃
Leftmost
I've been using a ThinkPad for a few years now. My standard for what I want in my next laptop is one that works as well as this one and gives me as little trouble as this one.
simukis_
well, thinkpads are a safe choice, but I can't stand their keyboards… unless they have changed lately.
Leftmost
I love my T420 keyboard. It took me a bit to get used to it, but I haven't really had any problems with it.
