snartal: If you get obsessive, you'll need a full-strength program like photoshop of the gimp or something, I think, to deal with scratches and moire and all the dumb things that one can worry about instead when one should really go out and eat a pizza instead.

Yea, thanks, just got a quick photoshop lesson from my son, so gonna use that, glad that it turned out to be somewhat simple.

well, it was just scanning from gimp, using its rotate thing to straighten things properly and then applying some filters (which I turned into a command line thing)
