no i agree with you. it's tough for "real artists" all over the world
lets's not mention china
mustaqila
SO, how's about China?
:P
PRAEst76 sends out peaceful vibes across the room but keeps the phone number for the riot squad handy

what I was saying is that let's take Russia before Putin. I can take any artist that I know of and their releases at the time and they sing about three or four different things at best. That's if they are actually good and compare to Visotsky who's compilations cover dozens of different most times unrelated topics
that's all
yllona
nechto13: i can match you there, with US artists.... but i'll let it go.
yllona sips vodka and cranberry, thanks mother russia :P
nechto13 graciously accepts the peace pipe from yllona
yllona blows a kiss at nechto13
nechto13
I actually would like to know the names of the artists
especially if they're good
I'm all about learning
yllona
i can send you a list, or can create a radio station on last.fm (but the catalog might be limited)
nechto13
go for it, thanks in advance
yllona
well for starters check out the musical activism radio station on last.fm most of that stuff is from the '60s & '70s
and i'll create a playlist for you in itunes, then send you the HTML of the lsit
*list

thanks

yllona is listening to Terraplane Blues by Robert Johnson from Nothing But the Blues: Cross Road Blues (1936) (0:09 / 3:01)
here's an example... pokes nechto13
legend has it that robert johnson, sold his sold to the devil to sing the blues... like faust
*sold his soul
srotta joined the channel
nechto13
they say that about so many US artists who are good that I lost track of how many artists' souls devil has
yllona
heh, robert john is the myth that all the rest are based on
seriously
nechto13
I hope the devil's better at keeping tabs on this cause he might be missing a lot of souls
yllona
there are a lot of pretenders out there...
nechto13
what's great about musicians with large variety in song subject matter or musical stlye is that you constantly keep rediscovering them, which I find to be an extremely rewarfing experience. hmm, maybe I should come up with a better example. For instance, tom waits
yllona loves tom waits
i know quite a few artists who sing protest music
as a matter of fact I've been to oliver mutukudze's concert when he came through austin that was something else
yllona
tuku is fantastc
nechto13
i wholeheartedly agree
yllona
here's another...
yllona is listening to For No One by Zap Mama from Sabsylma (1994) (0:17 / 4:52)

nechto13
yep, I know Zap Mama too. I actually have so much good music now that I have to make time to discover new good music. it's all because of the mp3 blogs

Hi :-) How long does it take that a change on an album appears online? Yesterday evening, I deleted an album without song lengths (that I posted before) and imported it from freedb (I also posted it there), but still the two albums are online: http://musicbrainz.org/album/6bb223a7-c0f0-4f57...
nechto13
your changes have to be voted on before they are accepted
srotta
Hmmm.
You do know that you can edit the track times these days?-)
klaaner-libby
nechto13: Okay ... and nothing changes if there's no vite for it? It's a quite small band so I don't think that anybody will vote for changes ...
srotta: I tried to edit them but it didn't work
srotta: So I thought it woulkd be easyer to re-import the whole album
srotta
Also, the MB should calculate the track times since that album has a disc id.
nechto13
it's ok if it's small do you have a link to the release I'll vote for it if I can check your changes
Whats complicated?? Clicking the links I just provided for you and then clicking 'Delete' ????
klaaner-libby
Okay, I have deletem them (I hope so)
nechto13
hmm, why was the freedb import deleted?
we could have just approved that and klaaner-libby could have deleted all other mods
teleGUISE
And while your at it... you now can delete this one to, since I moved the disc id.. In the future you don't have to delete a disc id from an album thats being removed -- http://musicbrainz.org/showmod.html?modid=3815975
klaaner-libby
Okay, deleted
teleGUISE
I didnt tell you to delete that one ...
yes I did to above ...
but to answer nechto13 's comment about the freedb import..
klaaner-libby you also deleted the good one ;)
klaaner-libby
damn
nechto13 turns the faucet and washes his hands
I'm kind of confused ... sorry ;-)
Could we simply delete all that stuff and re-import it from freedb?
Kind of a "reboot"? ;-)
nechto13
is there a way to undo a delete on a mod, I realize it's probably a pretty absurd thing to do, but is that possible?
klaaner-libby
Could'nt we delete ALL the stuff and redo the album?
