MartinRudat: luks and i don't like fiddly Os', you know :)
MartinRudat
hows about Mac OS X, then? =)
luks
err
MartinRudat
well... it's certainly less fiddly than Linux is... I can't compare it to windows, I've been more-or-less windows-free since '98...
luks
but it's far more expensive and the machine itself is slower
MartinRudat
not anymore it isn't, or so a few sites reckon... I dunno if anyone's run benchmarks on XP with Apple's drivers yet to compare, but the intel macs are apparently quite fast machines...
g0llum
yup. maybe the time is coming now to run a dual os
MartinRudat got a mac 'cause a mac laptop is less likely to go through 5000 revisions since someone managed to convince linux to run on it, while if I got a new windows laptop, I'd still be complaining about the lack of drivers...
nikki_
my ibook still works as long as I don't log in
which makes it pretty damned useless
MartinRudat
heh. my ibook is still running quite nicely... though even with maxed-out ram, all the thrashing makes me feel like I'm still on my first pentium box... though perhaps I can blame gnome or firefox for that...
nikki_
mine started dying 6 months after I got it
the trackpad died first
MartinRudat
that's no fun. The only things that've really bugged me about my iBook were, lack of ram, an extra 512M the sheer amount of space, woo! The fact that if you tried to sleep/wake it too quickly it'd lockup, and not enough disk-space (I upgraded the 30G to an 80G last year)..
...oh yeah, and it's only got usb 1.1 ports... the following revision is the one with usb 2.0 ports, afaik.
nikki_
mine drove me insane.
MartinRudat wonders if he should try draining his battery... the docs recommend doing it every once in a while... age-wise, it's supposed to have one foot in the grave already...
MartinRudat
I was actually a little disappointed when I ordered it, I thought that they were still doing the fruit flavoured ones (collect them all! =) ), but they'd already switched to white.
nikki_
yeah. the others were so much cuter!

MartinRudat returns from murdering a rabbit, and disguising the dastardly deed.
MartinRudat blinks... http://musicbrainz.org/showcdtoc.html?id=21892 ... where'd the first 14 minutes of the shiny silver stuff go?
MartinRudat: that's what i'm sayin'

I'd want to actually get the raw toc off the disc to see what it actually is... I know that data tracks in the second session of the CD are omitted when generating DiscIDs, but is there any reason for omitting them when they're on the first session?
yeah. does it have like a hidden track, or a data track, or is the client that generated it just funny...
BrianG
it has a data track
MartinRudat
I presume as the second session, after all the audio tracks, given it was left out of the DiscID...
catmo
oh, if the datatrack is "track 1" then the datatrack should *not* be omitted
MartinRudat prods aptitude... I told you where to find the archive... why no packages? ... oh, yeah... i386 packages only; time to compile for powerpc...

BrainG, how much did you get on your Hi-MD?
