she's mine, but she lives with my mum still
      • Joan_W
        what's her name
      • nikki_
        cookie! :)
      • Joan_W
        how old
      • nikki_
        hmm...
      • she must be at least 6 now
      • nikki_ looks for a picture
      • http://lmfao.org.uk/images/IM000234.JPG this is my favourite one :)

are you not allowed to have pets in your flat?
      • nikki_
        nope
      • plus she's lived at my mum's house since I first got her, I don't want to disrupt her
      • Joan_W joined the channel
      • hi again joan!
      • Joan_W
nikki - my photosite page is down so cannot at the moment post a link
      • I love your cats patterned tail - very distinctive
      • nikki_
she's daft though, if you scratch a particular point on her back, she'll lick you madly.
      • and if you don't let her, she'll lick whatever's close-by
      • Joan_W
our henry goes into a trance if you pick a particular spot on his back. I can't usually find it but Jim can
      • nikki_
        aww!
      • Joan_W
Cleo just likes being stroked, but if you are reading in bed and she wants fussing she will push the book out of your hands
      • nikki_
apparently cookie likes to sleep between my mum and her partner, on the pillows
      • and once I couldn't find her, but there was a suspicious bump in the bedcovers...
      • turns out she'd climbed *into* my mum's bed
      • Joan_W
I'm lucky there - they both like the bottom of the bed. Thomas, my best cat ever who died 18 months ago, used to sleep on the pillow just above your head
      • nikki_
        aww!
      • Joan_W
hey did you notice - cat talk without muz and his puppies
      • nikki_
        shh!
      • you'll summon him!
      • juhae
I've noticed there's a lot of fondness for cats over here, which is good ;)
      • Joan_W
we all love our cats here
      • mudcrow is a dog person
      • mudcrow
        and a rat person
      • Joan_W
        you can't help that - it's a genetic abnormality
      • juhae
        haha
      • mudcrow
        :p
      • nikki_
I think my mothering instinct went a bit wrong, I don't like babies but I adore cats
      • and my idea of soothing is a purring car
      • er
      • cat
      • juhae
        same for my paternal instinct
      • nikki_
not car, I don't like those either.
      • Joan_W
oh no - I couldn't be without my car - it means independence
      • mudcrow
        I loves my car
      • nikki_
I couldn't afford one anyway, so it's just as well :)
      • Joan_W
mind you it is only an N registration Astra with 113,000 miles on the clock, but it still runs nicely
      • juhae
I'll buy a Lada the day I've finally paid back all my student loan
      • It's the only brand which works effectively even at -25C temperatures
      • mudcrow
I have 1992 Landrover Discovery, its lovely, even if it like breaking down at the worse times
      • Joan_W
student loan - bah - we didn't have that in my day
      • cars always break down at the worst times - like in the middle of a roundabout
      • nikki_
bah, cats are better than cars!
      • juhae
Joan_W: In these modern times, you have to start your debt-circle early ;)
      • Joan_W
        agreed
      • to both
      • juhae
I posted this a couple of nights ago, but I'll link it just for Joan's amusement (since the terrified look on her face is prolly worth seeing for every cat person): http://bast.ath.cx/pose.jpg

      • juhae
        nikki_: Yes
      • nikki_
        :o
      • your hair is so long :o
      • juhae
        Something like 1m I think.
      • Joan_W
I saw that the other day when I was reading back over the chat logs. A very intelligent looking cat - I like long hair on a man -probably a throw back to my youth
      • however, my hair is longer
      • maybe - I can't see how far down juhae's back it goes
      • nikki_
mine used to be long enough to tuck into my underwear, but I had it cut because it had so many split ends
      • now it's just past my shoulders
      • juhae
Joan_W: When sitting on a chair, I can almost sit on it. Around to the level of my hips or so.
      • Joan_W
nikki - I was thinking of doing the same - but haven't yet got round to it.
      • juhae
I'm thinking of just doing the lazy option and dreadlocking my hair so I don't have to cut half of them because of split ends. ;)
      • Joan_W
juhae - mine is about the same - but whilst that is okay at your age, I have to put mine into a pleat or a bun if I go to a business meeting
      • MingVase

Joan_W: So far I've always kept my hair in a pony tail when at work
      • yllona
        hey martin!
      • MartinRudat
        hiya yllona.
      • juhae
It has been "clean enough" ;)
      • mudcrow
I used to have mine plaited, but it got too much hassle
      • Shepard
        hi martin
      • nikki_ loves plaited hair
      • nikki_
I had my hair cut again on thursday, so I'm back in the "wow! it's so short!" mode again
      • Joan_W
front door just opened - husband back from pub - good, that means he will be making a cup of tea and I could do with one
      • MartinRudat likes the idea of long hair, but I'm lazy, so I'm considering getting mine cut really short so it doesn't need combing in the morning...
      • yllona
MartinRudat: that's the plan. i *love* short hair. so easy
      • Joan_W
it's much more comfortable at night too - in summer, long hair is very uncomfortable at night
      • juhae
Long hair is pretty uncomfortable anywhere if kept open and the temperature is even a bit hot
      • It's like an oven in your head
      • nikki_
I used to twist it and wrap it around itself until it was out of the way
      • yllona
yep. and humid weather becomes a nightmare
      • nikki_
        juhae: 'specially if it's thick
      • yllona
especially if your hair is curly
      • nikki_ 's hair is thick and curly :/
      • nikki_
well, not as curly as it used to be
      • juhae
nikki_: Add a slightly atopic skin into that and you're off to the wonderland of my scalp ;)
      • yllona
        mine too. :)
      • Joan_W
both cats have just arrived in this room -probably to tell me that their dad is back and is making a cup of tea - they know they will get a snack if I go downstairs
      • nikki_ giggles
      • I had better do as I am told - will be back later
      • yllona
so now i have thick curly grey hair, and grey hair i s a whole new phenomenon
      • nikki_
give the cats a stroke from me!
      • Joan_W
        I shall
      • juhae
this tea after an evening at pub must be some sort of british custom
      • juhae makes notes
      • mudcrow
      • MartinRudat
        grey hair? kids? >:) =)
      • wolfsong13
        kitty love kitty love
      • nikki_
juhae: proper brits drink tea whatever the time, whatever the weather!
      • nikki_ goes to get a cup of tea too
      • wolfsong13
        wicked mud!
      • yllona
mud: :) i had my hair the same way back in the '80s, mine was blue though. the reddish was too close to the color of my skin
      • wolfsong13 broke his tea press and is still looking for the right replacement
      • juhae
awesome, but i figure those braids must be a real hassle to work on
      • with hair growing straight and all
      • yllona
juhae: just add a little texturizing mousse, and straight is easy to braid
      • i like the beads, too.
      • mudcrow
used to take ages to get it done, it was red purple pink and blue, but the red overwhelmed everything when it was plaited
      • yllona
when i had corn rows in college, it was 18 hours to brid my hair :)
      • *braid my hair
      • juhae
usually people have ended with braids or 'locks after their mohawk has just outgrown out of laziness, i've noticed from my group of friends
      • since when you spike your hair and just leave them be, they'll dreadlock quite nicely. and if you put any effort into it, you can also plait them pretty easily
      • yllona
juhae: yep. the only way to deal with a mohawk as it grows out. hair length is too uneven for anything else, uless you want to shve your head
      • *unless you want
      • juhae
Okay, the cat is signalling me it's time to head to the bedroom so she can come sleep on my stomach again. :)
      • Nights all.
