I MUSICbrainz was meant to be a MUSIC database. makes you wonder when you see JK Rowling has more releases in the db then Franz Schubert or Johannes Brahms and Tolkien seems to have released more albums then The Fall

It's picky. The logic is based on the query parameters, including the order of those parameters.

but ?y=2&x=1 might not be allowed.

It's just string matching, that's all.
