we are aware of the shortcomings

but it takes time to come up with a clean solution

i haven't done any kind of odd hackcs yet in the whole development process

and i won't

if it takes 6 months to come up with a proper solution for something, then it will take that long

we're not planning on releasing BMP 2 anywhere soon

but the current code does not qualify by any standards and means as a "pre-BMP 2"

i kinda jumped the gun

well there are 2 ways of importing music

one is just to import it

that imports files as they are first of all

then you can edit the metadata later on

or, if you want to pick a few particular files of which you know they constitute a release

then you use what you just chose

and select them, and then choose the musicbrainz release, and then it retags them first and then imports them

but that's quite tedious if you have really a lot of albums

It doesn't do 110GB over 100mbit network fast enough ;)

luks: under what circumstances would PUID lookup work for one person with the exact same file (note, not just the same track but exactly the same file) and for another person not?

given that support for this filetype has been built with the library (libtunepimp) on both systems

it doesn't generate a PUID or it MB gives you different matches?

for me, it returns No PUID

for the other guy, it gives a result for the same track

i once made a benchmark of bmpx vs. RB

it took BMPx for ~2000 files 1:35 minutes and for RB 18 minutes 30
