BrianFreud
Are you using Picard or PicardQT?
Knio1
umm
picard
BrianFreud
lol - is it split horizontally or vertically?
ok
Windows?
Knio1
yup
granted I am trying to feed it a 40gb folder containing many corrupt files....
BrianFreud
ok. Catgroove won't like me for suggesting it, but I used to run into the same problem with the old Picard. You might want to try PicardQT (the new version of Picard). It's in alpha still, but I found it's actually much much more stable than the old Picard.
Knio1
but it seems to be a UI thing, when i'm trying to drag a file
catgroove: My first try at adding a classical release. Would this be a "proper" title?
A Requiem Mass in Memory of John Fitzgerald Kennedy. A Solemn Pontifical Requiem Mass in Memory of John Fitzgerald Kennedy (disc 1) (Boston Symphony Orchestra feat. conductor: Erich Leinsdorf)
or rather, that, but with the (disc 1) at the end

Freso: you know anything about ClassicalStyle?
Freso
BrianFreud: Not much, no. I don't really work with classical music either.
Well, I try to stay out of classical and jazz stuff, as they have some rules I don't know much about nor care much for.
Like trad./folk stuff has some rules that doesn't apply to rock/classical/jazz.
BrianFreud
same here - just happen to have this one on the HD, and if I group it in by how I normally do classical, I'll prob end up losing a lot of info on it :P
Freso nods
Just one of those times I wish NGS was already in place
Freso
Annotations are good for keeping information that you're not sure of how to enter otherwise.
I still don't know how to handle NGS in relation to folk/trad. stuff. :)

Which is also one of the reason I've started work on the TradFactor page.
BrianFreud
? Haven't seen that one before
Freso
Go look it up, then. :p
There's not much there yet, though.
BrianFreud
TraditionalFactor?
Freso
TradFactor
TradFactor has a nicer "ring" to it, than "TraditionalFactor, IMO. :)

Good point you make on that edit's discussion. I recently ran into something similar, dealing with "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" and a cover of a tune from an opera
neither is a "cover" in the traditional sense
It's also something that's crossed my mind several times with regard to In the Pines/Where Did you Sleep Last Night
If I can ever finish Nirvana and move on to Lead Belly, those issues will be very important to deal with
Freso
The thing is it probably is a cover in the rock scene sense in that edit, but very often it is not necessarily so, and it is specially not considered so.
Take the case of Michael McGoldrick - he has written so many (excellent!) tunes by now, by I wouldn't ever even think of credited someone else's recording/performance of one his tunes as a cover.
And my English is way off right now, sorry. :)
BrianFreud
Not a problem
Freso
Traditional music is a living, breathing size.
BrianFreud
What language is your native one?
Freso
Danish.
BrianFreud
Ah... I speak a bit of French, but no Danish
Freso
Not a lot of people speak Danish. :)
BrianFreud
:)
Freso
When catgroove and I write together, I'm writing Danish.
BrianFreud
I noticed

Anyhow, I'm going to go sleep, but I'm interested in what ends up happening with Traditional - definately keep me in the loop on that one :)
