The GI Joe dubs are the only decent thing to be branded with "ebaumsworld"
BrianFreud
canidae: It's not changing the bitrate, it's just changing the amount of padding - esp at 320 kbps, there's a lot of frames that don't actually fill the frame - remove the padding, rewrite the frames and such, and voila - avg 290 kbps vbr mp3 with a few hundred kb to a few mb saved
on a single cd, it is worthless. On 106 gb of mp3, that's 5 gb saved... :D
dalen: hopefully you read logs - when I try to click on any release's type to change it, I get a popup "Error: The documentation index is currently not available. Please try again in a moment."

what does "multiple release types" mean?
FauxFaux
MO TOWN CAT
Muz
UP TOWN GIRL
WHITE BREAD WORLD
FauxFaux
Not as good as YOUR WOMAN.
pankkake
gioele: a release would be able to have multiple types instead of only one
Remix + EP for example
I'd really like a "Demo" type by the way
gioele
pankkake: I see. Is demo different from promotional?
pankkake
Well, a lot of groups I listen to release cds as "demos"
and they are added as Other, Official currentl
y
BrianFreud
pankkake: I'd say "demo" is more a status than an attribute
could be either though
compilation/Demo or Demo/bootleg

hello there! How can I retrieve the releases from a given artist mbid?
<@fred> 04:53 <@rob0> We have a genuine celebrity in #postfix ... esr_ ... and get this:
<@fred> 04:54 <@rob0> he came in and asked : 03:16 < esr_> Anybody home?
<@fred> 04:54 <@rob0> without asking any real question. Should I send him to the Smart Questions HOWTO? :)

i think fetchmail is a good archetype of how to write a really bad program
FauxFaux
I get that impression from most things written in C. :p
(And I'm told /I'm/ defective)
ojnkpjg
you can write beautiful code in C
fetchmail is just crap
how many security problems during its existence?
maybe i'm a dinosaur, but i find reading good C code to be aesthetically pleasing
nandovieira has left the channel
anyway, i don't really get why that guy is famous
Muz_ mooses bedforth!
yllona
ojnkpjg part of the reason that esr is so (in)famous is that he's gone completely off the rils in the last few years -- like truly ka-razy.

ojnkpjg: I'm a c++ monkey, I wince when I see someone using a pointer. :p
ojnkpjg
c++ is painful to read
at least if you start using templates heavily
FauxFaux
The definitions of the templates might be, but it clarifies the logic of the code no end.
This isn't really an argument that's worth having, though, as we both know we're right, and that the other person is irreperably damaged and has to die out before software quality increases. :p
