that would be a pretty darn sweet deal if you ask me
l8nite
only reason I keep using it is so I don't have to call my own company's tech support line
and re-activate vista
lol
notchamunks
hey thats still more than half price
thats soo sad
l8nite
man... closing in on the goal finally
~35k mp3s run through picard
heh
notchamunks
i cant get the repository working for picardqt
it wants the gpg key :(
35k! wholy crap and i thought i had allot at 16k
l8nite
I think I'm only a few hundred files from being done
last hour or two I started just deleting anything that didn't match instead of bothering to research/add-to-mb/etc
lol
notchamunks
i've been there
i lost my library a while back and i left a redundant copy with my friend a Long time ago and hes totally anal about keeping meticulous backups of all of his data so i got itall back but pre organisation
l8nite
ouch
notchamunks
so im just not looking forward to doing something i've allready done again
l8nite
I have a raid5 nas thing storing everything
heh
warp rsyncs everything to work once every few days.
notchamunks
now see i would like a raid5 but i think a raid6 would be much better you can have upto 2 drives fail before its manditory you replace them
warp
offsite backup. if my house burns down, atleast i still have my music.
l8nite
yea... I just need to get another big disk
notchamunks
warp, it would be nice to have my stuff organised first before i even think of rsyncing again
warp
notchamunks: i'm only syncing /mnt/music/tagged, the organized bits so to speak.
notchamunks: especially with rsync, try to start early. it took my a few weeks with my uplink to rsync the first 100gb :D
l8nite
warp: you're actually doing off-site via the net?
notchamunks
warp, ok that make sense im thinking of just rsyncing the drives i have personally than moving them offsite afterwards lol
l8nite
I'm just gonna buy a disk, copy and then mail it
lol
warp
l8nite: yes, nothing ever changes in those dirs, except adding new music.
l8nite
I'd need a stable offsite host to do a permanent rsync solution
notchamunks
yeah after the initial transfer im sure its ok
Muz joined the channel
i would love to set something like that up at some point
warp
l8nite: when i bought my music harddisk, I just bought another one and stuck it in a computer at work.
l8nite
warp: that's what I was just pondering
MBChatLogger
I hate the evil empire
l8nite
microsoft's compliance-nerds are a bit touchy about crap like that though
I think I could get away with my buddy's place
hehe
notchamunks
l8nite, well thats basically what i do
warp
you could also consider doing this two-ways with a friend or family member, yeah.
notchamunks
l8nite, i just gladly give my friends copies of my entire library or anything i need backed up that way i have redundant copies i didnt have to pay storage for
warp needs to set this up for his brother at some point.
l8nite
hehe
notchamunks
i want at some point to learn some bash scripting so that i can rsync these things automatically via cron jobs
l8nite
shouldn't need any bash, just a cron entry and the rsync command
warp
I don't do this via cron btw.
notchamunks
hey it works i had some 8bit nes cover music that i never ever ever thought i would see again and my one friend actually had a copy of it :)
warp, you actually run it yourself every now and again?
warp
I just start the sync script whenever I have added some new music.
notchamunks
yeah that makes sense
warp
also allows me to listen to it at work the next day, so backup isn't the only motivation.
l8nite
If I'm gonna go through the hassle of getting a machine/disk set up somewhere, I'd just make it regular
especially because my time-machine backups and such are on that drive too :)
notchamunks
err... a "friend of mine" has a tonne of music from a certain oink.cd website that is all high quality about 3000 songs or so
l8nite
you mean the one that just got raided?
heh
warp
MBChatLogger: off
MBChatLogger
is not logging
is logging
notchamunks
basically just looking for a way to make sure when media folders are combined that they stay relatively discernible from each other
warp
and, enough work for today, i'm heading home :)
l8nite
yea "organized/" and "crap/"
:P
warp: laters
notchamunks
warp, cya
so would any one know how i add the gpg key for the ubuntu repo?
l8nite, man that must have been like passing a kidney stone
l8nite
yea... I've been at it since last thursday
lol
notchamunks
god thats not making me look forward to my library lol
oh is there a simple way to remove duplicate tracks with this?
l8nite
not really
I've been doing it manually
notchamunks
ok well one thing at a time i suppose
wow that looks allot different
l8nite
time for some breakfast and work email :)
bbs
notchamunks
ooh yeah breakfast i should download some of that :P
that sounds like a good package
Rondom joined the channel
so whats a good reliable match percentage?
deadchip_
deadchip_ is now known as _
_
_ is now known as deadchip
brianfreud
notchamunks, (ignoring the nit-picky bug I mentioned to luks) I've been very happy with 75% puid, 70% for file lookups, 75% for cluster, and 85% for file to track
low enough normally you get the right release, without having to find it manually, but high enough that if your tracks don't quite match right, you won't end up with them in the wrong release
notchamunks
brianfreud, ok sweet now to relearn the picard ui
brianfreud
picardqt, I hope :D
notchamunks
yep picardqt
finally
lol it was such a huge disaster me trying to find a good gutsy repo for it lol
luks, helped me out with that one
MClemo
symphonick: hm, it's only spoken word but not exactly out of one book. I guess I'll have to figure out how its for other comedy releases
