so my guess is that the wrong PUIDs are applied to other songs because people upload albums with altered track listings, right?

I'm following a set of PUIDs I've extracted from my own cds, and pretty much daily someone has added those PUIDs to another version of some reelase. Or to the same artist's release that happens to have the same number of tracks. Or to cover/live/a cappella/instrumental/orchestrated version of some random track.

in almost all cases, under the performing artist, with a "release is a tribute to artist" AR

so it doesn't go under compilations or something?

The release itself is added as any other release.

well, most are VA compilations

just seems weird it's there prominently displayed with their primary discography

well, if it's, say, the string quartet tribute to Queen, it'd be under the string quartet, not Queen

So "foobar" on a "live" release would sort with "foobar (live)", not with "foobar"
