and as far as I knew, it just didn't send the code for the side menu if it was turned off
BrianFreud
zoke: there you go, lots to add tocs for :)
nikki: yes, exactly
UserErr0r has quit
nikki
what does the side menu code have to do with anything though?
zoke
BrianFreud, I have wondered though how does the script otain the TOC from the webpage ?
nikki
cdbaby insert it into their html, iirc
BrianFreud
but that means document.getElementsByTagName("div")[6] is a different element in each menu version of the page
zoke: cd baby hid it in their pages for us
nikki
why not get an element by id within the main body of the page then?
BrianFreud
because of the way the site currently is designed - almost nothing has names or ids, and within the table/table/list/table structure, the menus muck that up
getting Geordie to handle each version, with or without menus, was a pita
ojnkpjg
brianfreud, i'll see if i can dig anything else out of edit comments
BrianFreud
I haven't looked at the source to the cd baby one in a while though - don't remember offhand what it needed to address that way, in the opera version
aCiD2
BrianFreud: are you going to hurt me when I break all your hard work over GSoC? ;)
BrianFreud
nah
actually I'll welcome it
aCiD2
:)
nikki
could get something by class instead then...
there are plenty of classes
BrianFreud
not always though
but yes, I do use that a few times to work around just that problem
rereading the code now...
nikki
td id="content-td" <- the td with the main stuff in it, the menus should have nothing to do with what's in there
BrianFreud
best guess, it's ImportatMBTOCSearch() that breaks when the side menu is off
plus all the ifs to check exactly which version of the page we have, whether it's the AR view, the =mbid, the =id, with or without this or that or both menus, etc
survey time :) - who is everyone's favorite Doctor?
FauxFaux
Nick.
BrianFreud slaps FauxFaux around a bit with a large trout
nikki
I've never seen it
BrianFreud
how can you be British and never have seen Dr Who????
FauxFaux
I've not watched it 'cos it's boring.
nikki
I didn't watch much tv as I grew up because the subtitles were crap
so all I watched were cartoons where understanding what was being said didn't matter
FauxFaux
Dr Who is new.
BrianFreud
lol
FauxFaux
The Dr Who you're expected to have watched is new. :p
nikki
then by the time subtitles were good enough, I'd stopped watching tv altogether
yllona has quit
BrianFreud
dumb question, but why subtitles?
nikki
my hearing is crap
BrianFreud
ah
wondered if it was that, but figured MB might not make much sense if you were 100% deaf

nikki
turning up the volume helps, but it's not uniform loss, some frequencies are worse than others
I want a copy of my graph thingy, but I'm always too shy to ask
BrianFreud
could make your own
nikki
audiogram, that's it
how?
BrianFreud
little util to cycle up through all the frequencies, little "can you hear this" yes/no - then just graph the output
nikki
but how will it know what db it is?
BrianFreud
just generating pure tones?
nikki is confused
do you mean just pure frequencies or pure frequencies at various volumes?
nikki
at various volumes, it wouldn't work otherwise
BrianFreud
ah
nikki
it's frequency against intensity
BrianFreud
well, I guess you could somehow try figure how loud your speakers are at some setting, then use software to adjust db, and repeatedly cycle the freqs
actually, just yesterday I was playing with a BBC acoustics tester CD and realized I no longer can hear anything above about 16kHz, at any volume... still feel pain on sustained 16-20 kHz freqs at high volume, but can't actually hear them
nikki
hehe, my physics classes were always funny
whenever they started really high and got people to put their hands up when they could hear it, I would be sat there for aaaaages until I could hear it
ah cool, I only have 10, 15, 18, 20 on this CD, had to guess where the cut off was
FauxFaux
Foobar lets you add urls that look like tone://16000, fwiw.
Not good for your health.

BrianFreud
hmmm, I can hear 15 kHz in both ears, but 16 only in one
nikki
owwwww
sample 2 is painful :(
BrianFreud
wierd... I can hear all the way to 22 on the flash site http://www.jimmyr.com/blog/hearingloss.html , but I can't hear 18. 18kHz (-10dB_leg).ogg or 19. 20kHz (-10dB_leg).ogg from this CD...
ojnkpjg
yeah, i think that flash app is broken
BrianFreud
everything from 17 up sounds like the same tone
ojnkpjg
they sound different to me
but i've not been able to hear 21kHz and up before
FauxFaux
Flash app sounds completely different here (windows).
mikemorr joined the channel
BrianFreud
I can hear a slight difference between 17 and 18, but 18 to 22 all sound identical - and none have the physical pain feelng I get from the 18 or 20 kHz files I have...
nikki
I can hear 11khz in that flash thing
12 if I reeeeeeally concentrate
13, no way
FauxFaux
I'm not sure foobar is doing it right. Could someone make some decent demo files? :p
BrianFreud
I have the files if someone can host
ojnkpjg
the 22kHz tone on that site does kind of make me feel not well
i wonder if it was just my speakers were crap when i tried before
