        but essentially built by hand.
      • the build process isn't really nailed down yet. we're still not sure what exactly the goal of the build process it
      • is
      • VxJasonxV
to produce a dmg, exe, tar.bz2, automatically? :) (heh)
      • ruaok
        to produce the app bundle.
      • once we get one that works, we can codify it into a makefile.
      • inclusive of making the dmg
      • VxJasonxV
I ask only because I filed a bug and it was closed due to (1) the bug having already ben fixed in a newer version and (2) the version being out of date as a result

        yay, database imported
      • FauxFaux
        Yay.
      • ruaok
wow. paypal contacted me because of my blog post from yesterday.
      • I guess complaining publicly is one way of finally getting some attention.
      • VxJasonxV
        heh
      • I was just reading that
      • Muzzz
        Which blog post?
      • ruaok
        the top one on blog.mb.org
      • Muzzz
that was me asking for a URL
      • Muzzz is laaaazy
      • Kerensky97
        BOC!
      • ruaok
        geez
      • Muzzz
        Ta!
      • Hmm
      • warp
        ruaok: oh, hehe
      • ruaok: any opinion on amazon for that btw?
      • ruaok
I'll probably end up implementing all three of them. (pp, amazon and google)
      • Muzzz
        O O O O OVERKILL?
      • warp
        indeed.
      • oh well, i do hope paypal offers you a proper solution.
      • Muzzz
It is kind of reassuring that they saw that blog post and reacted
      • ruaok
well, I keep getting feedback like: "I won't donate because you use X. Use Y and you get my money."
      • the only way to get all the money is to support them all.
      • LotR
why is that overkill? the more ways people can donate the more chance they will actually do so, no?
      • ruaok is with LotR
      • Muzzz
You can never please them all, and is it really worth the time spent maintaining and setting up all of them for what they return?
      • warp
ruaok: haha, yeah. some of those posts are exaggerated I believe. but yes, if you want all the money ...
      • ruaok
I mainly want the 200/per day $.01 donations from china to stop.
      • paypal spams my account more than ANYONE else.
      • its really freaking lame.
      • Muzzz
        :/
      • LotR
Muzzz: you have to substract the time to deal with those "I would, but" emails, so it might end up positively influencing the time spent on donations :)
      • talking of donations/subscriptions.. I wonder what the status of the last.fm new subscription type is (esp. in .nl)
      • Muzzz
        Haahah
      • Hahah
      • Hah
      • Oh.
      • Ha.
      • LotR
        hehe
      • LotR was afraid of that
      • should I worry about failed insert/updates to album_amazon_asin during admin/slave.sh?
      • ruaok
        eh?
      • slave.sh?
      • Muzzz
        admin/cron/slave.sh?
      • ruaok
what type of server are you running?
      • Muzzz
        Loading replication packets I assume
      • LotR
        Muzzz: right
      • ruaok: just the DB
      • ruaok
        RT_STANDALONE or RT_SLAVE ?
      • LotR
        I set it to RT_SLAVE
      • ruaok
did you modify any of the data?
      • you're not supposed to modify data on a slave server.
      • LotR
        I didn't
      • Muzzz
Did you set it to RT_SLAVE before or after running InitDB.pl for the first time?
      • ruaok
        paste an error
      • which version of DBD::Pg did you install?
      • LotR
        Muzzz: after
      • Muzzz
        Hmmm
      • I've often had issues when I did that
      • symphonick joined the channel
      • LotR
DBD::Pg::st execute failed: ERROR: insert or update on table "album_amazon_asin" violates foreign key constraint "album_amazon_asin_fk_album"
      • Muzzz
Ended up setting it to RT_SLAVE first then importing the DB as it doesn't create FLs and stuff
      • *FKs
      • Heh.
      • LotR
looks like the FKs got created :)
      • ruaok
        yep.
      • was it RT_SLAVE when you imported?
      • LotR
        no.
      • Rondom has quit

        cd admin/sql
      • ../psql READWRITE < DropTriggers.sql
      • ../psql READWRITE < DropFKs.sql
      • and try again.
      • DropFKConstraints, I think.
      • LotR
        is this bad?:
      • PendingData still contains data (rows=7639)! at /home/mbuser/foo/admin/replication/ProcessReplicationChanges line 214.
      • ruaok
        ../psql READWRITE
      • delete from "Pending";
      • delete from "PendingData";
      • your replication might be borked...
      • might need to be '"Pending"'
      • LotR
        works with just ""
      • ok, guess I'll just do the import again just to be sure everything is correct
      • ruaok
        try the replication again.
      • it may work.
      • chances are still good.
      • LotR
yeah, it was working ok, but is there no chance of it having lost data from the first packet?
      • ruaok
        it shoudn't the transaction failed.
      • and the tables cleared.
      • it should try again
      • aCiD2 returns
      • LotR
hmm. slave .log gives a "summary of changes applied" before that pendingdata error
      • and then when I restarted cron/slave.sh, it went on to the next packet
      • heh, screw it. doing the import again. it'll give that CPU something real to do for a change :)
      • nikki
        hah
      • poor cpu
      • aCiD2
        hamster cpu
      • ruaok
that do not originate on your website. "
      • either disallow credit card payments or deal with chinese hackers.
      • those are my options.
      • fuck you paypal!
      • Muzzz
Disallow credit card payments, and set up one other provider which does allow credit cards/// like Google?
      • s/\/\./g
      • There's a missing / in there
      • Bah
      • ruaok
well, google requires a google account.
      • at least everyone in the world (so it seems) has one of those.
      • warp has paid with google checkout once.
      • my experiences with google checkout were vastly better than with paypal.
      • nikki has never used google checkout
      • FauxFaux
Yeah, I find google checkout less bad than paypal.
      • They don't assign ownership of your credit card, for example.
      • aCiD2
lol, sister just batted a spider web out of the way, hit herself in the face, and now has a nosebleed
      • xD
      • ruaok
        speshul
      • aCiD2
        she is
      • LotR
and they say spiders aren't dangerous. hah!
      • aCiD2
I've used google checkout a few times, never had any problems, in fact found it very transparent :)
      • LotR
I've never had any problems with paypal either
      • (both times I used it :)
      • aCiD2
        true that
      • just the initial setup is hell
      • ruaok
warp: do you know if amazon payments allows CC payments without creating a login?
      • aCiD2
(to receive money, I don't think you have to do it to send)
      • LotR
argh. my external disk finally died completely :(
      • Senilix
won't any provider that accepts CC payments without creating a login have the same problem with those hackers?
      • ruaok
I think they can be mitigated to make the hacker's lives more difficult.
      • for instance, right now they don't even hit our web site at all.
      • we could force them to create shopping carts and submit those to google checkout.
      • that gives us more power to check the donations before sending them on.
      • like, if you're making a donation we can check to see if you have a valid editor name.
      • all of these make their lives more difficult.
      • so they will find some other place to scam off of.
      • we're just making it too easy for them right now.
      • VxJasonxV
while they don't accept paypal, I know that easynews is another very popular target for testing credit cards
      • that was a pretty worthless comment, but hey, I made it :P
      • ruaok wondered about that
      • I'm pretty good at making loosely related comments :)
