I'm really suprised that so many people care about the correct date and country. The most boring stuff imo, plus it's guesswork anyway most of the time
srotta
I pretty much add it only to Finnish releases.

Those are the ones I'm certain are correct.
MClemo
so what if the date is a bit off as long as the edit contains barcode, label and catalog number. That's my point
maybe he would be willing to add the stuff to the edit note if we can't convince him to add release events
srotta
At minimum I'd say it's release for Europe - somehow I find it hard to believe they'd really release it only for Austria :P
MClemo
is the date and country still mandatory?
that would suck...
srotta
Specially considering it's an "underground metal" label.
Yeah. Country can be unknown, of course.
Well, I don't know actually, with the new server release.

I hope it got changed
nikki
I thought it did, but I can't add events without a date in the edit all thing

Often I have a playlist in m3u, then I change paths or something, maybe "move files" with a new syntax in picard, and the m3u is not valid anymore. Is there some other way of keeping playlist that is based on the musicbrainz_trackid which won't change in that situation? Some applications that supports musicbrainz tags?
Wizzcat
you have m3us stored outside the album folder?
otherwise you could just use relative paths when creating them
UncleRemus
Yes, but I have changed filename syntax in picard and renamed
actually nm, that creates relative playlists so useless
or maybe not, I'm still a bit groggy from waking up
UncleRemus
Hehe, I thoght maybe I could write something that stored all trackids and use that later in case something changes, but if there already were an application (amarok, or similar) that supported, it would be easier
nikki
hm, I made a plugin for picard but where can I upload it to?

Picard is being rather odd now, when I do "Scan" it doesn't seem to generate a PUID for any of the files and just skips through them. I have libofa installed so any ideas why else it may do that?
Tykling joined the channel
Hrm, it says no decoders found which is complete nonsense as I compiled it with ffmpeg support

Any guesses as to what SUSE wants installed to make fingerprinting work? It's not ffmgeg, libtunepimp5-mad, libofa, ... "no decoders found"

Any user of genpuid here?
FauxFaux
?
JohnNy64-konik
Well. how to use it?
Because...
Enverex
FauxFaux, It may be the issue I had
JohnNy64-konik
I tried running it on three of my files which don't have a PUID...
Enverex
FauxFaux, What version of FFMPEG do you have?
JohnNy64-konik
The program did analyze them...
Wizzcat
JohnNy64-konik: it'll take ~24h before the puids will be available in picard after scanning
JohnNy64-konik
...and nothing else happened.
Ah.
Wizzcat
if you rescan them tomorrow with genpuid they should return a puid
JohnNy64-konik
All right, but shouldn't it at least show some activity for my MusicDNS key on the webpage?
Okay.
Wizzcat
JohnNy64-konik: no idea :p
personally I just use musicip mixer, less hassle
JohnNy64-konik
Personally I don't own Windows.
FauxFaux
Enverex: 0.4.9.blahblahsvn.
JohnNy64-konik
(...nor MacOS nor do I have Linux.)
Enverex
FauxFaux, Basically Picard doesn't work with the new one, you either need to patch Picard or roll back FFMPEG. I had exactly the same problem
FauxFaux
/Fail/.
Do you have the patch? :)

Maybe I could somehow get the Linux version of the Mixer to work if I really wanted, but I simply prefer commandline tools over GUIs.

hi warp!

FauxFaux, It's a Gentoo patch but may word, search bugs.gentoo.org for Picard there's a patch there
srotta
Enverex: Considering your Picard doesn't find decoders... does the patch work?-)
Enverex
srotta, It does now
srotta
Ok. 8)
Enverex
Which is nice, the ID tag lookup was horrible, lol
FauxFaux
Enverex: Mmm, you know you want to report it on bugs.musicbrainz too.
