I don't know if its just me, but by default the volume is lower on most of the classical music I have in mp3 / flac

Whenever I rip a classical cd, or download something. Its always so quiet compared to my other music

The effect of doing that will be to reduce the volume of the rock/pop tracks down to the level of the classical stuff so everything ends up nice and equal. Mostly.

You just have to scan your library, you can do it album by album as you listen to them, or all in one shot. It doesn't matter how many files you have.

RG isn't perfect, but it helps quite a bit.

And the great thing is if it messes up a scan and asigns a value taht's too high/low, you can just manually edit it since it's just another tag in the file. No fuss.

I use to use a program called foobar2000 that had a pretty sweet way of applying volume changes to mp3's

But its windows only :(

Foobar works quite well in wine...

how long should it take for newly added artist to be "findable" in the db?

i'm trying to add a release to an artist i added 35 min ago, and it keeps telling me "Artist with ArtistID #650654 not found in the database"

is it supposed to take that long? :)

ummm... now under my edits, it shows the added artist as "Deleted Artist"

heh, you must have had puuurfect timint.

Modbot comes around and deletes empty artists each night.

You might have added it right before modbot did it's run.

i actually quite suspected that...

shouldn't it check how old the empty artists are?
