Now that we have multi-medium releases, how should different audio tracks on DVDs be handled?

jesus2099: the locale is used to specify the main official name for the language, so that things can select the correct name for the desired locale. imagine musicbrainz in japanese, which would display the work using the japanese name (same for artists too)

Should each be a separate medium on one release, or should they still be separate releases?

Or (in this case, the Metallica/San Francisco Symphony album S&M, you have three tracks…one of Metallica only, one of the orechestra only, and the main one, of both together.

I wouldn't use separate mediums, there's only one dvd

I would probably enter them as separate releases, but if you're going to have all the tracks in the same release, I'd say they should all be on the same medium

That does sorta make sense. Disc titles are uncommon.

This totally needs someone with SQL wizardry to see what proportion of multi disc releases have disc titles

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, though I think it depends on the intended use of the comment field... is it for disambiguation, or marked and/or unmarked version info ("special edition", perhaps)?

it's for disambiguation, but it's not clear how much of the existing information you're supposed to use when comparing them

Hmm, well I think it is indeed disambiguating information (it probably wouldn't exist on the cover if it were the only version).

well, if you did mean those, then yes. even though I have all five versions, I have no idea which one to click without comparing catalogue numbers

nope. the cds are in one of those paper-thingies, the dvd inside is hold by the box itself :D

I have a few that are jewel cases in boxes and a lot that have card sleeves that go over the jewel case, so I ignored those and mentally put them under jewel case (since we can only enter one packaging thing anyway)

but then I have a jewel case and slim jewel case contained by a card sleeve >_<
