yeah. the one here is 15€ per year and you have to pay extra to borrow cds/dvds or 30€ per year and you don't
but you don't have to pay just go to in the library
reosarevok
Yeah, DH was 25€ per year IIRC for borrowing
Freso
reosarevok / nikki: Uh. Do I need to make a wiki (proposal) page for a VIAF relationship type? If so, where are other "other db" subtypes that I can look at? Are they linked from anywhere?
Freso: yes. nobody's bothered fixing all the pages
Freso
right...
nikki
I won't do it because I disagree with the amount of duplication and nobody else gives a shit, it seems
anyway, I'd expect "a" or "the" before "VIAF" and "id" to be uppercase
reosarevok
Jozo: http://data.kirjastot.fi/data.html the Turku one is cc0 so that could go into geordi - if you can isolate the music recordings info, which should be easy with MARC
Jozo: unsure about the CC-BY-SA one since our data isn't really in the same license and I'm unsure if edit note links count as attribution
Jozo
reosarevok: My TODO list also has task to contact to authories and ask if they can open data bit more....
reosarevok
That'd be nice

Freso: the main reason it is still on the template is because I cry every time I look at the template
Freso
reosarevok: :p
reosarevok: So.. what should I omit from the template?
reosarevok
Freso: you need to add proposal = 1 (but I hope you knew that because that'd mean it's indicated somewhere)
Freso
reosarevok: "proposal = 1" is listed on the Template page, yes.
The prohibited stuff is pretty much just for lyrics and scores because they can get us into trouble if we link to "illegal" lyrics pages. Nobody is going to sue us for linking to a biography (I hope!) :)
For other databases, we're *supposed* to request community approval - although it's not as strongly enforced as the other stuff
Jozo
(so if I change this hamewiki to biography no-one complain =)
reosarevok
heh
Probably not, but at least looking at pomus, it might make sense to add it to the databases thing with a proposal anyway
(if it has a lot of useful bios)
That way it could also get a sidebar link + icon and stuff
Jozo
Yes, I was saying just same...

Jozo: If you think you're going to add a site/database to a wider array of entities, making a proposal would be nice, as that would also allow someone to add "URL autoguessing and -normalising" to the JS code.
Jozo
Pomus has bios for about every significant finnish composer/lyricis and so
nikki
if it's linked as a bio page, it doesn't need a proposal
Fluke joined the channel
(even to add it to the sidebar or auto-matching stuff. we do that for facebook, etc, even though there was no proposal for it, just because it's used a lot)
Freso
:o
Heresy!
reosarevok
Dunno, this pomus thing pretty much looks like a database to me :p
But I could live with either I guess?
nikki
I didn't look at it
I'm just saying
Jozo
What lyrics site I should favor?
(eg witch one can be parsed by machine...)
(I like link to artist site if they provide lyrics... but that seems prohibited...)
Freso
Jozo: I usually link to all lyrics site that are allowed that I can find the lyrics on.
Jozo
Is it possible link to tablatures if they are available at artist site? =)
Jozo: The bot only adds on artist level (for now anyway).
nikki
one of them at least has fake entries iirc (i.e. pages which are only there to say "oh, we don't actually have this, hahahahaha we made you load some ads and waste your time"
)
Freso
Jozo: And I think that's LyricStatus' own bot adding links to their own site.
Jozo
Freso: Yeh, but it's boring to link lyrics to every work by hand.... (I just do it when I listening...)
nikki
lyricwiki is not much better because it's on wikia, but at least I already have a script to extract the lyrics section for me so I never have to actually go there
I mostly only use kasi-time, but then again I mostly only edit japanese stuff :P
Freso
I prefer WikiCommons...
But that's mostly for old stuff. :p
Jozo
Hjum
Wikicommons has only non copyrighted stuff?
Freso
They only have free (as in freedom) stuff.
Jozo
I've linked only one time to it... (some swedish traditional song...)
nikki
heh. directlyrics doesn't even work for me...
the search just says "Loading search environment..."
Freso
So Public Domain, CC, and copyleft stuff could be in the Wikicommons.
Jozo
Is there no possibilty to link directly to artist site?
hjum, that url doesn't seem pretty stable either...
nikki
Freso: did you mean Jozo?
Freso
Jozo: Yes.
;)
Jozo
yes,no,yes,no
Freso: It's bit funny that if I copy lyrcis to some site... it's more "legal" than linking to directly to artist site (whom I can ask permission to do so...)
Freso
Jozo: It's not a matter of legality wrt linking to artist website, AFAIK.
Jozo: Merely that there's no good way (technically) to enable links to artist sites while also blacklisting all non-white listed lyrics sites.
Jozo
Freso: Yeh. I just want see lyrics whitout some ad in the middle of...
Freso
Also, I'd love to see a little orange-purple brain next to the W on the source graph under "Preferred Forms" on http://viaf.org/viaf/109231256/
Jozo: Wikicommons! :D
Jozo
Freso: I like to see some site where artist can provide lyrics without abandoning (?) copyright
