ah, in opera it just uses discogs's jquery and I guess reo's is the one where I embedded jquery in the file

its a problem with the @require in greasemonkey

so unsafeWindow.jQuery doesn't end up getting set or isn't set when the script is called

apparently @require can be flaky and sometimes doesn't retrieve the script in which case greasemonkey won't work

which explains why it works for some users and not others

this avoids that by loading jquery directly
