      • hawke tries and fails to reconcile http://beta.musicbrainz.org/work/dbac1015-a9e5-44b8-b5a5-2e93804a53fc with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/String_Quintet_No._4_(Mozart)

FWIW, I would consider a DVD release to be an album.
      • (or, well, any release of a collection of music videos)

      • Anyone here good with German?
      • If someone is, and could work out the alias date ranges for http://www.berliner-schlosskonzerte.de/pdf/MaxJ...
      • …that’d be appreciated.
      • Mineo
looks like "Herkulessaal" from 1600-1959, "Alter Herkulessaal" from 1959-1984, "Max-Joseph-Saal" from 1984 on
      • hawke
        got it.
      • Mineo: Does it say anything about the new Herkulessaal?
      • Mineo
yes, at the end of page 2 - it was built from 1951-53 in the festsaalbau
      • hawke
        Mineo: what is the Festsaalbau?

it's one of the buildings of the residenz in munich
      • hawke
        “Banquet hall wing”?
      • Mineo
        yeah
      • hawke
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munich_Residenz says that the Festsaalbau was added between 1832 and 1842…I wonder why the difference.
      • Mineo
the important part of that wikipedia article is "Herkulessaal (Hercules Hall), which has replaced the destroyed Large Throne Room"
      • so the throne room was destroyed during ww2 and they built the new hercules hall as a replacement
      • hawke
        Nod.
      • Just trying to figure out what exactly happened between 1600 and the 18302…
      • er…1830s
      • Right.
      • Mineo
a lot of parties probably :)
      • hawke
But what about the old hercules hall?
      • it was built in 1600(?) in the Banquet Hall Wing, which was not built until 1832?
      • (er, “as part of the Banquet Hall Wing” that is)
      • Or was the hall there previously, and they just added on to it and turned it into the banquet hall wing?
      • Mineo
now I'm confused, the new hercules hall is what's in the banquet hall wing, the old-now-max-joseph-saal one is somewhere else
      • hawke
        oh, is it?
      • maybe that’s where I was getting confused. :-)
      • It is still part of the Residenz though, right?
      • Yeah, that PDF says it is.
      • Mineo
yeah, it's in something called "hofdamenstock", where hofdamen are ladies-in-waiting according to the dictionary. I'm still unsure what the meaning of "stock" in that word is :P
      • hawke
“The Hofdamenstock (Ladies-at-Court Rooms), including the original Herkulessaal (Herkules Hall), are installed between the Kaiserhof and the Kapellenhof (Chapel Court)”
      • Everywhere I can find, -stock is translated as “rooms”
      • hawke resists the urge to add the entire Residenz to Musicbrainz
