(I've heard the name before but just as "Footballer does something stupid on Periscope")
I'd say social networking
hibiscuskazeneko
It's more like "Live on Periscope: Footballer does something stupid" (filmed by a guy in the bleachers)

Hi, I seem to be having an issue trying to create a new release for any artist. When I click "Add Release", I get taken to a page that just says "Add Release" on it with no form or anything. Am I doing something wrong?
Try it again; it might have been a momentary hiccup
(I get those a lot)
jackwilsdon
Just cleared my cache and also tried it in incognito, it was doing this last night as well :/
reosarevok
jackwilsdon: do you have JS off?
jackwilsdon
I don't believe so, let me check my extensions.
reosarevok
I think if you're blocking JS that might do that maybe?
Other than that I dunno
jackwilsdon
Nope, not blocking JS :/
reosarevok
Check the JS console? (f12 probably)
jackwilsdon
Oddly enough my Chrome has been acting up lately, I can't open the console (even with right click -> inspect). I'm probably going to end up resetting my Chrome.

There we go, nuked my Chrome settings and it seems to have sorted it
Thanks for the help am hibiscuskazeneko & reosarevok :)

Glad it works
Feel free to ask if you have any questions anytime!

So I'm currently adding an album from iTunes named "Good Grief - Single", I assume I remove the " - Single" suffix?
reosarevok
Yup
Unless it's on the cover to
*too
Which is rare for singles, of course, but if it was Good Grief EP on the cover then we'd keep the EP :)
jackwilsdon
Alright :)
So the label is "Virgin Records Ltd", do I put it under "Virgin" or "Virgin Records"? The description for "Virgin" on MusicBrainz is "worldwide imprint of Virgin Records Ltd. and its subsidiaries".
Also is it me or are the MB docs broken? All of the links seem to tell me Page Not Found
hibiscuskazeneko
What does the logo read?
It's not just you. The docs are hosted on the wiki, which is down.
The normal Virgin logo reads just "Virgin"; there are variants (e.g. Virgin Records, used only in Japan these days)
reosarevok
Yeah, we mostly follow the imprint which is mostly the logo :)
jackwilsdon
Ah, alright. I'm not sure what the logo reads, as it's on iTunes :P
reosarevok
oh :)
jackwilsdon
It says "℗ 2016 Virgin Records Ltd" on iTunes
hibiscuskazeneko
Is it digital-only?
reosarevok
It could be Virgin or a Virgin sublabel or many other things. If unsure, just leave label blank
hibiscuskazeneko
I'd check Discogs to see if they have any pictures of physical copies
reosarevok
(you can later add a "phonographic copyright" relationship to Virgin Records Ltd, which is what (P) there says)
jackwilsdon
Well it only came out yesterday but I haven't seen or heard anything about a physical release.
reosarevok: So put it under Virgin?
reosarevok
Hmm. It's Bastille? It's probably Virgin but not sure. Some lyrics site says ""Good Grief" is out June 16th, 2016 via EMI Virgin and Capitol Records"
Honestly I'd probably leave it blank, but that's because major labels are weird and confusing :D
jackwilsdon
reosarevok: Yes it is, I might leave the label blank for now then
reosarevok: Thanks :)

So if an album has - EP in the title on iTunes, does it go in the MB title too or do I remove it?
e.g. the iTunes title is "Moog for Love - EP" but the album art just says "Moog for Love"

hibiscuskazeneko
jackwilsdon: Yes, remove "EP" from the title
You should add it as the release group type though
(iTunes does not support more than one release type, hence the title add-ons)
