jesus2099: I think the recent updates to beta may have broken the mass merge script.

Hi!
Beginner question: A recording has a length, but the edit page for a recording doesn't allow one to edit the length. If the length is wrong/has a typo, is the only option then to replace the recording with a new copy with the correct length, or is there another way?
reosarevok
ulrikb: the length is calculated from the track length. Edit the release that has the incorrect length.

reosarevok: OK, so if I reuse the recording on the "Recordings" tab on the release editor, the updated length is then copied to the release?
I meant: to the recording
reosarevok
Yes
ulrikb
Got it, thanks!

Another question: Is there a way to base a new release (& release group) off an album in the left pane of Picard? Or at least copy a list of "number. title - artist (length)" fields to the clipboard for ready use in the "manual entry" tracklist editor?

ulrikb: there's an "Add cluster as release" plugin. I haven't personally tried it

Freso: Yeah, already used it to base four more releases off on
dupe with incorrect tracklisting, auto editor says that it is "possibly" another one of four releases not matching any edition information on it
(merge cannot be done, due to it missing a bonus track)

finalsummer: that bonus track can be added. and the trakliting cna be altered ot fit whatever it is a dupe of
finalsummer
well this is a hassle. i need to remove the disc ids to be able to change the track listing to be able to merge
reosarevok
Well, if there is a disc ID, that suggests the thing exists, so removing the incorrect catno etc and leaving it as a "bare" disc otherwise might be of some use
CatQuest
+1 to that
finalsummer
the release has three disc ids. two of them are shared with another non-existent 5 track version of this album
CatQuest
sounds like pre-ngs mess
uh.. "shared with another non-existent" ?
oh can share with another and be non-existant at the same time?
uh, how*
finalsummer
its six tracks
in its real form
mb lists it with 5
it exists. but not with the edition information
it currently has
sorry for breaking up that into multiple messages for no reason
reosarevok
Well, in any case remove the edition information, to begin with
Then if you have two messed-up 5 track ones with no real info, you could merge the two
I guess? Dunno
Just removing it is also an option, I guess - it's just a shame to lose the discIDs. I really wish we could store them at the RG level when unsure, as "generally kinda-sorta this album, we guess"
CatQuest
[19:00] <reosarevok> Then if you have two messed-up 5 track ones with no real info, you could merge the two <--
hmm
I think just sotring an "empty" version releae in the rg is fine
19:04 < finalsummer> i did what reosarevok suggested

Hello, I know how to import existing album into release consisting of few CDs? How to perform reverse action, so derive standalone release from existing multimple CDs release?
Cyna
Hi yvanzo is the musicbrainz-server related development work discussed here too ?
