Hey all, you may remember I was here a couple of weeks ago to get help with a musicbrainz local docker setup...well, I accidentlly nuked it all! I know there was working on generating an up to date image, any progress on that or do I start from scratch?

createdb.sh should have an option for wget to use -4 or -6. Since ftp.metabrainz.org resolves both ipv4 and ipv6 it's causing problems with my vm which may resolve an ipv6 but isn't ipv6 connected. It causes the fetch to fail.

oh, it's ftp.musicbrainz.org - how odd is that. *sigh*

anyone have a good explainer on how ISRCs are not actually unique?

At the very least, they are limited by 100 years, so I guess after that they can be reused by newer tracks. Quantity of labels is also limited, but for now, on "overflow" fictional 2-letters country codes are being assigned (at least, for the US)

Or do you need some practical (instead of theoretical) examples? :)

why would they define it this way, it's so obviously the y2k problem?

the reason for the extra fake country codes is to allocate more label codes, not necessarily because any given label is running out of codes (i expect most of the allocated label codes are barely used)

i think the way labels are expected to handle is is to .. handle it themselves
