MutantPlatypus: depends on the typo, and whether it could be considered artist intent
MutantPlatypus
pretty sure it isn't his intent
hawke_
which are you talking about? I don’t think “Qemists” should be changed to “Chemists” for example.
MutantPlatypus
oh, sorry, it's for the second track, "feat. MC I.D"
he seems to show up as either "ID" or "I.D." with optional "MC"
on other releases
hawke_ tries to find some cover art.
should it just be another alias to the same artist object in the database?
hawke_
Well, of course featured artist style says it needs to go into the artist field anyway.
MutantPlatypus
yeah, i was fixing a bunch of recording objects to do that, but then I cam across this... issue
hawke_
I would say that either way is acceptable. It should definitely be the same artist entity in the database, and preferably it should be the same as it is on the release itself, if you can find that.
but if you can’t, it’s OK to use either especially since he’s inconsistent on other releases.
MutantPlatypus
ah, ok, I'll just try to match it the crediting on the release
hmm, i also noticed the record label uses "featuring" instead of "feat." and only does it on the one track. Should that be copied over, too?
well, crud, Amazon corrects it to "feat. I.D.". I'm going with that :/
Leftmost
We have style guidelines regarding feat.
MutantPlatypus
i saw that, but now I'm trying to determine if that was artist intent or not, as its the only track on the album that uses "featuring" instead of "feat."
I can't find it anywhere else that doesn't itself cite discogs

so... should we delete releases that had all their info gathered from Discogs? Isn't that a copyright violation?
reosarevok
MutantPlatypus: no
Data isn't copyrighteable
(not in the US at least)
And discogs' data is made available under public domain anyway
"Database data is made available under the CC0 No Rights Reserved license, which means there are no restrictions on what you can do with it" from http://www.discogs.com/developers/
(in fact, there is a discogs-to-MB import helper script on userscripts.org)
MutantPlatypus
ah, ok, i thought their terms of use said not to copy it
but ok then, I'll update that release instead of deleting it
reosarevok
As far as I know, even if they *did* say not to copy the stuff, we could still copy it anyway, since they're facts, not creative info (so it still wouldn't be subject to copyright in the US where both discogs and MB are)
Luckily, there's no need to do that since they (as most other places like that) have open licenses :)
MutantPlatypus
neat, good to know
JonnyJD_
apart from that, often people have the relase in hand, but don't state that, since they can't easily prove it anyways.
CatCat sighs as people goes all" lol opera" at him

hi there
hey CatCat and nikki : You don’t really need a userjs to deactivate lightbox… Opera natively bypasses any javascript with middle+click, it opens the picture without lightbox this way too…

warpen ? CatCat : have you searched Opera.com’s forums ?
nikki
jesus2099: that doesn't fix left click though.
jesus2099
nikki: you want to left clik to see the image instead of the currently loaded release ?
nikki
well, why would I want the lightbox?
jesus2099
because you don’t loose the release on left click ;)
nikki
I don't know which ancient browser you're using, but I find that going back works perfectly fine
jesus2099
mpff
CatCat

nikki

jesus2099

CatCat

jesus2099
nikki: here is the mouse geture to close lightbox : click anywhere
nikki

CatCat
nikki: ++!
jesus2099
nikki: I middle click for the full pics

CatCat
