Whole bunch or releases for that artist are wrong
      • reosarevok
        I'm sure
      • But I can't fix what I don't know :)
      • I fixed the one you pointed out (the iTunes version of it) after making sure iTunes used +
      • Munger
Could you edit the sort name please. It will take be ages to get that through
      • All the Cds I have have + - http://images.coveralia.com/audio/f/Florence_Th... Same on the official website http://florenceandthemachine.net/
      • reosarevok
I suspect the sortname is like that because it was seen as styling
      • I wonder if that's a good interpretation of the guideline though
      • reosarevok looks at the releases for now
      • Munger
I can't find any case where the group uses 'and' in the name - even this one http://images.coveralia.com/audio/f/Florence_Th...
      • reosarevok
Yeah, I'm wondering why it was added as and...
      • For a compilation
      • reosarevok enters edits to change everything in one go
      • (will need votes though)
      • Munger
How many did you just change. I can only find three
      • nikki_ joined the channel
      • reosarevok
        Munger: I changed three
      • Those should change all the ones with that name
      • (so, basically everything)
      • That's why they need to be voted on, because the changes are very big
      • Munger
      • reosarevok
        Yes
      • It should do all of them
      • Munger
        Great, Thanks

hi all. Quick question: I'm tagging files with Picard and there is one album that Picard only shows one version and songs doesn't match with my files. in the musicbrainz website there are five different versions of that album, some of them matching my files correctly. What can I do for making Picard showing all the versions?
      • reosarevok
MaDMaLKaV, go to the page for the right version
      • And then add &tport=8000 to the end of the URL and press enter
      • (I think that was it)
      • You should get the green "Tagger" button then
      • Well, if you get it already, just press it!
      • MaDMaLKaV
Error message: '928cf314-07eb-4149-90ed-30640f61768b&tport=8000' is not a valid MusicBrainz ID
      • reosarevok
        Hmm
      • Maybe that wasn't it then
      • Well, apparently you can also drag the release page and drop it in Picard
      • And if that doesn't work, just make a lookup first from Picard (the lower right corner lookup button)
      • and refresh the page
      • If *nothing* of all that works, we have a problem :p
      • MaDMaLKaV
yeah, the tagger button shows ok when I make the search from picard instead fom web. thanks dude !
      • reosarevok
        np :)
      • Mineo
the correct addition would have been "?tport=8000"
      • reosarevok
        Oh

awesome error: "Requested 'libvala-0.16 >= 0.15.1.' but version of Vala is 0.15.1"
      • kepstin deletes the extra period from the end of a line
      • Mineo
heh, you haven't seen mercurial error messages then
      • Mineo once had to fight an "everything ok" error
      • kepstin
i avoid mercurial errors by not using mercurial :)
      • well, I did use it for some work stuff last year
      • Mineo
        that was university stuff

wee, there we go. Having the ability to register a manually built package with the system package manager is awesome :)
      • kepstin now has a git version of libgda with vala bindings :)
      • ianmcorvidae
        :D
      • kepstin
as of a few commits from now, riker will be utterly impossible to compile for anyone other than me, rather than merely hard.
      • ianmcorvidae
        heh
      • Mineo
you clearly underestimate the power of the AUR :)
      • ianmcorvidae
        there's no libgda-git :)
      • I just looked :P
      • kepstin
libgda from git requires a development version of both gobject-introspection and vala, along with some manual build fixes right now.
      • ianmcorvidae
        hah
      • Mineo
ianmcorvidae: well, modifying the pkgbuild you get via abs shouldn't be too hard
      • ianmcorvidae
i.e. it'd probably be faster to make a gentoo VM than anything else ;)
      • kepstin: any idea when it's supposed to get released?
      • kepstin is on gentoo, but is using an alternate package manager is package import support
      • kepstin
with any luck, it'll be released along with gnome 3.4
      • but they're running a bit late for that
      • ianmcorvidae
I don't follow gnome, when is 3.4 supposed to get released? :P
      • kepstin
I'd expect them to have a beta 5.1.0 tarball by the end of the month
      • Mineo recently found out that libcdio has had a new stable release after almost 2 years which adds a second method to read ISRCs
      • March 28, 1012
      • ianmcorvidae
        1012!
      • kepstin
        yep.
      • unforutunately, all the records of it were lost in the intervening years
      • ianmcorvidae
that's a very special sort of backporting.
      • kepstin
so they're having to do it again, and it'll be out later this year.
      • ianmcorvidae
maybe they'll put it out on the 1000-year anniversary, even ;)
      • kepstin
http://live.gnome.org/ThreePointThree has the big massive chart of dates
      • Leftmost
kepstin, how does libgda look to you? I'm always frustrated by the applications it installs with .desktop names that don't conform to GNOME guidelines and icons that look fecking awful.
      • kepstin
Leftmost: well, I'm not using any of its gui stuff.
      • i'm using it as a database abstraction layer
      • which it appears to do a decent job of
      • Leftmost
I know. However, its GUI stuff sullies my opinion.
      • kepstin
(admittedly, it does have some decent gtk integration helpers, like dynamic stores for list objects and things)
      • Leftmost
Vala is pretty gosh darn shiny.
      • kepstin
vala code looks almost exactly the same as C# or Java.
      • Leftmost
        Only less awful. :P
      • kepstin
pity the automake support for vala is still a bit... iffy.

        hi
      • i'd like to know if you can specify the producer of a track in MB and if yes, what id3 tag is used for it?
      • ianmcorvidae
      • kepstin
in particular, 'TIPL:producer' is the id3v2.3/2.4 tag used.
      • ianmcorvidae
producer AR, gets written to TIPL:producer, PRODUCER, Producer, or ----:com.apple.iTunes:PRODUCER or WM/Producer
      • htrejh
thanks, i was on the page but i missed it...
      • is it an official tag?
      • kepstin
from the id3 spec, TIPL: The 'Involved people list' is very similar to the musician credits list, but maps between functions, like producer, and names.
      • hmm, this libgda bindings still need some work, they neglect to list some of the required dependencies in a .deps file, so I have to add them manually for now.
      • ianmcorvidae
        well, they are unreleased :P
      • kepstin
        there is that :)
      • yey, it compiles.
      • now to make it do stuff.
      • ianmcorvidae
        :D
      • ianmcorvidae will enjoy having riker's DB running right next to MB's DB :)
      • heh, I wonder if there could be re-use there
      • that would be amusing
      • probably it would have to be a bunch of views/CREATE RULE to make them updatable
